PwC Legal is proving very popular this year.. I spent such a long time on my application last year and then failed the logical reasoning test. Might try again this year but the symbols just hurt my brain

What sort of questions did PwC ask if you can remember?

Hi everyone, I'll be a regular poster on this thread too. Most of my apps will be to regional offices of firms bar two or three City ones.

Quick question on the PwC grad website I cannot see the vacation scheme vacancy, just wondering if anyone else has had this issue?

Thanks & Good Luck!

Yeah, can't seem to find it either - they say all graduate recruitment positions are now open on Twitter, but have not been able to find anything about the vac scheme (everything else is actually open).

Much like Dlaiden and Conzy. I found the previous year's thread incredibly useful and have equally attained a TC at NRF, having competed vac schemes at Skadden, NRF, Macfarlanes and Jones Day.

As the aforementioned have said I would be happy to answer any firm questions, app questions or questions regarding general interview stuff.

The best advice I can give is: get your applications off early, tailor them, network during any presentation events on campus and finally, spell check the hell out of your applications.

Hey!

Thanks for offering! About Skadden and Jones Day - how did you frame your Cover Letters?

Both were rather similar:

3 paragraphs:

Why me - extra curriculars etc

Why commercial law

Why them - deals, certain areas they specialise in that I'm interested in.

Yes, everyone I know who is training at Ashurt got there from the vac scheme.
Hey guys, I managed to secure a TC for the 2018 cycle having applied to mid tier firms rather than the big hitters, after being realistic with myself. Feel free to message me for advice, as I did last year, which was very helpful to me.*
Hey congrats on the TC, do you mind me asking which firm?

Does anyone know roughly when Winter Vac schemes are opening for 2016? I have been on a number of websites but nothing has been updated as of yet....

Shearman too!
In cover letters should we talk about a certain deal or international offices? A bit concerned as some firms state not to tell them info they already know about themselves :/

Is it not advisable to repeat in your cover letter what you already mentioned in your extra curriculars/ position of responsibility section? Thanks

Hey guys,

Just wondering whether anyone is attending the bright network festival on Monday and is it worthwhile? As I'll be travelling quite a distance (and is costly), trying to get an idea of the advantages and disadvantages. I know some good law firms are attending but I feel the event will be too generic, is it worthwhile to attend or not or just apply for firm led events at thier offices? (I'm a law graduate and have previously attended events such as national law live). Would be great to hear your opinions and what previous attendees have gained from the event. Thanks.

You shouldn't repeat anything that would be in your application or CV. At best you can reference it, but definitely do repeat details.

Thank you!

I attended last year and it was decent, even if you don't speak to many representatives of the firms it's good to go and grab some grad recruitment brochures. However, they also have like talks at certain times by senior people from law consulting banking etc which you can listen to which are good. I'm not going this year as i don't have much money left until I get my student loan and need to spend that money on football instead and going to the aspiring solicitors spring into a vacation scheme event in Birmingham on the 14th. If I had the money though I would definitely go and would reccomend it
