Isomerism and carbonyl compounds

image.jpgI'm really bad with naming these compounds but is it called 2-hydroxybutanal (I'm probably way off) and can someone check if I wrote the display of the compound right.

1. Your structural formula is fine. You have to count the carbonyl carbon as number one, so the hydroxy group is on number 3.

2. Your structural formula is fine. The name however is 1-Butene-1,3-diol (E or Z depending on the isomer). The number for the alkene group is before the butene part.
Yes but i personally would have named the second one 1,3-Dihydroxybut-2-ene. But technically yours is also correct.

And you would have been wrong. The only acceptable name (by IUPAC standards) is 1-Butene-1,3-diol.
