unrealistic to go from a C to an A

People do the entire A-level in a year and get an A, you'll be doing A2 plus building on AS, it's possible but only with resits and hard work! You'd also need to question your personal motivation to the subject, I understand personal circumstances can make things tough but do ask yourself if there's another underlying issue like the teaching style, the syllabus, the stress, etc. And then find a way to work with it, without solving any underlying problems you'll never be able to do your best

two of my friends got Cs in AS chemistry and were told not to apply to medicine as they wouldn't meet their offer. they begged for an A prediction, and both of them achieved an A in chemistry on results day this year after some resits. one is going to manchester to study medicine, and the other to sheffield :smile:

I'm just speaking from my own personal experience but I believe it is highly possible provided you really do put the work in. I took AS chemistry and came to a shock on results day as I attained an E having got a U in one exam, a very low E in another and a C in the coursework component (old OCR) My teacher didn't even want me to study chemistry anymore and certainly wouldn't allow me to carry on into A2. I ended up taking an extra year and restarted AS. I've just finished sixth form now and having got my A2 results I attained an A in A level chemistry. Trust me if you put the work in (and I mean going to see your chem teacher atleast once a week during lunch times, after school etc) and revise every past paper under the sun you can do it :smile:

I'm hopefully going on to study veterinary medicine and have been told by tutors the resits should not harm my application too greatly

Hey, I was in the same position as you after I did my AS last year...I got a C and my teacher said it wasn't possible for me to get an A (got C's in all units). I changed classes in year 13 and my new teacher said I should resist my AS exams. During year 13 I tried to work really hard (although sometimes I went back to procrastinating). I sat both my Chemistry AS exams on top of my current A2 exams. Fast forward to results day...I got an A in all my chemistry units and an A overall. So it's definitely possible, don't be disheartened!! You can do it. :smile:

Don't worry, my sister managed to go from a D to a high B in chemistry and a C to a high A in biology A-level along with 7 resits and having panic attacks in the final exams :smile:

If you have the motivation to do it, you can achieve it :smile:

I got BBCC at AS with a C in Chemistry

This year got AAAb, with an A in Chemistry (2 marks off a fricken A*)

It's possible.

Asking a teacher for help (maybe a different science teacher) might help you out though, I find it easier than reading from a textbook. Past papers as well, and flashcards for keyword definitions. Everything is possible!

So much this. I went from an E in RE at December mocks to an A* for GCSE.
It's very doable OP, you just need to work for it

Of course it's possible to do well if you try your hardest, but you have to be realistic. If the C was the result of you just being lazy then I'm sure with lots of hard work you could get an A. However, if you tried your absolute hardest and came out with a C, an A isn't that likely to happen to be honest. It all depends on your personal ability - no online success stories will affect your capability.

I know someone who got a C in history AS and is now off to LSE to study Law so I'm pretty sure she got an A overall.... it can be done with retakes and a lot of effort

One of my friends got a U in chrmistry amd he resit it and took the work seriously instead of socialising alot. Guess what he got ?? He got an A*, never let other people down, you can do it but you will need to put tons of work into it in order for the grades you wanna hit

He realised he flopped because he was takimg his part time job seriously and partying alot with his college m8s ,he had one chance and took the opportunity.

I went from a D to an A in maths, and i know of people who've gone from a D to an A*, so you can deffo do it in Chemistry if you put in the work :smile:
