Wow, I feel as if I missed a lot last night xD

Kieran, my friend is studying Natural Sciences at Nottingham this September and is looking forward to it so much! In fact another of my friends is studying the same at UCL (although more physics based). You are clearly very clever with the universities you are applying to! I studied AS Further Maths, but didn't take the exams (: Congratulations on the sort of promotion, Junior Chef sounds awesome, is that something you would consider pursuing? I will definitely look at Sussex, thank you for the advice!

Cher, that is really soon! I don't think I am seeing any of mine until October when one comes back, then again in November and them I'm heading up there in December for 3 days. Loughborough was amazing, big, spacious and really pretty. All the lecturers were really nice and the accommodation was amazing, obviously the sport is pretty good too! Yeah, that was my thinking about UCAS, I can't see how you would apply to more unless you apply privately? Definitely, it will be better for sure! Are you having to rewrite yours?
lilGem, that all sounds awesome (: Did you study at one of those universities initially or somewhere else? Out of interest, what was your degree subject if you are now specialising in Cancer therapeutics? Not going to lie but working in WHSmiths would be absolutely awesome (I am a stationery addict!).

What are everyone's hobbies that they plan on continuing through the year? (: xx

I didn't I went to UEA and my BSc was Biological Sciences, I had a module on cancer in my final year and other modules relating to drug design- my dissertation was pharmacologically based on the polarisation of macrophages in systemic inflammation by a purinergic pathway :h:

I know! I'm so looking forward to getting the staff discount so I can splash out on stationery next year :h:*

The moment when you barely understand most of what you said xD

Stationery is very important, particularly when combined with technology. I think I love both just as much as each other but a combination really is the way forward! For example typing notes and then annotating with stationery!

Hey!

I started a gap year thread but just found yours so I thought I would come and say hi  My name is Cher and I am taking a gap year after not liking any of the universities I applied to (haha!) and not feeling ready yet.

I really want to get a job this year and earn my own money to go on some holidays in summer! I'm applying to uni this November to hopefully go next September to study Graphic Design.

I live in London, whereabouts do you live?

Are all your friends going to uni this year, all but one of mine are and I know it's gonna be pretty hard at the beginning to get used to feeling a bit lonely and left out. Are you feeling like this too? Please tell me it's not just me haha!

You sound like you have a crazy and exciting year ahead  the 'getting fit' part of it is something that pops into my mind from time to time but seems to be something I push to the back of my mind haha!

It would be great if we could have lots of people talking on this thread, might make us all feel less alone (or maybe just me haha!)

xx

Hey I also live in London
I'm taking a gap year as I wanted to switch my cours, so I have to go do another personal statement and stuff like that aha
Most of my friends are starting this year, so I guess I will feel a little left out at the start but I am hoping that that will subside!
I've got a job lined up at the moment in central London
I'm Sam btw

Hi Sam!

Whereabouts in London do you live? I love it here so much it's going to be so hard to leave it :frown: What course did you initially choose and what are you changing it to?

I have to work on my personal statement again as there I few things I can add in since I did it last year.

Yeah I think it will be hard the first few weeks but then things will get better and as long as you keep in touch it will all be fine. Especially because Christmas is around the corner and everyone has to come home for a few weeks.

Oh cool what do you work as?

Hey Ola

Wow, I've always admired people who train to be nurses or doctors!

I'm sure you will be celebrating! Cornwall is beautiful and if you go, definetely go to 'Pauline's', it is the best tea shop in Cornwall!

Me and my besties are off to Kavos next summer for a mad girls holiday, but we went to Portugal together this year to celebrate the end of school and it was the best week of my life! If you ever want a beach/ party holiday that isn't trashy or full of drunk lads, go to Albufeira!

Yeah I'm so excited!! Oh so you have a few visits to look forward to, and everyone comes home in December anyway!

Ohh that sounds amazing! I'm definitely going to visit Loughborough and see what it's like.

I remember that in my sixthform they were telling the year below that they would be using something called ULAS instead of UCAS?!?! What are we meant to use? I'm so baffed haha XD

Yeah I need to change it a bit and add in my plans for my gap year, apparently they love hearing about that kind of thing. I really want to write and illustrate a children's book, that would just be so cool, and get it all made up into a real book. I love photography so want to continue that even though t won't be for schoolwork anymore. I also looove musicals and the theatre and I plan to go and see loads more plays and musicals next year!

What about you Bryony? xx

I was accepted into Winchester School of Art this year but the campus was pretty quiet and being from London, I didn't like the idea of being so far away from the main Southampton campus. But Winchester is really quaint and pretty
