Thinking about dropping out of university

...
(edited 6 years ago)
If the course has onl;y just started then you should chat to people like your tutor and maybe one of the counselors in the students union. Take Mike up on his offer. Its common for their to be teething problems ate first and then people settle in. Socialising is part of uni for most people, just join some societies with hobbies you are interested in. I think a day is a bit too soon.

You can normally withdraw from your course within 14 days of your course start with no fee penalty. If you wait longer than this then it will cost £2,250 up till Christmas.

Accommodation is £50 plus 4 weeks rent if uni owned.

Hi,
I'm studying at BU too and have just joined first year. Where abouts are you staying, if you would like to have a chat?

I'm living in Purbeck. I'm thinking about deferring my year and re-joining next year. I know this may sound odd but I don't feel odd and think that if I took a year out I will be slightly more mature and will be able to take on the challenge of uni next year.

Thanks for the reply. I'm not sure if I want to completely leave and I'm thinking about deferring a year to weigh up my alternatives, and if I don't find anything else then at least I will have Bournemouth as my back up. It's not to say that I don't want to be at Bournemouth, I just feel that there may be better options for me out there and I just want to explore them before making my final decision.

If you are going then do whatever it is within the 14 days or it will cost you £2,250.

Yeah I feel the same and I feel like taking a gap year, but I'm going to try and give it a few weeks. I live in Cranborne I'm not the most out going type either and have no plans for tonight. I can come to Purbeck and meet you if you like, cause I'm not sure really what to do haha

I can come out too if you like. The only reason I don't want to wait too long to defer is because otherwise it'll cost me a lot of money if I do.

Yeah fair enough. Umm I don't mind, where would you like to go out?

I don't mind. I'm not that familiar with the area and im not much of an outgoing person haha. I'm currently stood outside purbeck house.

Hi,
Just thought I'd let you know that I've managed to defer my place for a year. Thanks for coming out and talking to me yesterday!

Or check if there are places available in clearing. You might be surprised.

Thanks. I'll have a look and see if I can find something more suitable, and if not then I may apply for 2017.
