Algebra? Find x

Three times the reciprocal of a number is one less than ten times the number. What is the number and how would I approach? I think it is 3(1/x) = 10x-1 but I'm not sure how to solve it?
There are 2 solutions... (start by getting rid of the brackets and then multiply both sides by x, then rearrange and solve the quadractic formula
You're on the right track. Just multiply all terms by x to get 10x2 - x - 3 = 0 and factorise.
(5x-3)(2x+1) = 0
so x = 3/5 or -1/2

Quite simply.

3(1x)=10x13(\frac{1}{x})=10x-1

3x(1x)=x(10x1)\Rightarrow 3x(\frac{1}{x})=x(10x-1)

3xx=10x2x\Rightarrow \frac{3x}{x}=10x^2-x

3=10x2x\Rightarrow 3=10x^2-x
