Alas, I did know that; I was myself reaffirming your own knowledge of my knowledge of your knowledge, which I assume you also know?

I did know, but I cannot say that I know anymore, alas, I cannot guarantee my knowledge in the future. And you know who caused this to be.

Idk.

I give up.
Do people lose or gain weight at uni (esp at camb)?

Depends on whether you bringe-eat or lose appetite under stress:tongue:

Did you walk to the school or took a bus?
You'll be walking a lot as you're not cycling. You'll graduate with nicely toned legs and healthier heart to accompany your degree.
I have a family.
Not an orphan anymore. Whoo

I'd say probably gain weight if the idea of "freshers 15" is actually true :frown:

Depends! I gained about 10 pounds in first year. But I was underweight before I started uni, so it wasn't a bad thing for me. A lot of people lose weight because of the stress - I lost weight during my finals because I was so keyed up!

Hmm I used to accompany revision with unhealthy snacks when I was in school...

I walked to and from sixth form, about half an hour in total! So I'm quite used to that :yep:

I was thinking that stress would be a major contributor to weight loss. Maybe it'll be two birds, one stone for me

Some people deal with stress by eating more though: I got so stressed out during my final year that I didn't make the time to eat properly. So don't do that! Do try and avoid microwave meals if you can; eating in hall is at least giving you a half-decent meal, and you'll get a chance to socialise. :yep:*

I gained some thanks to huge hall portions. Much easier to avoid that if you learn to cook!

Do some sports. That'll keep your body and mind healthy, and also good for making friends.

It'd depends on a methodology of ranking. You always have to check what kind/ nature of indicators they use and its weighting. Can't dismiss it simply by looking at ranking itself.
However, any ranking that puts Oxford above Cambridge, let alone on the top of global ranking, is a complete BS.........

Could anyone tell me when and how we're supposed to pay for tuition and accommodation? I've been looking through everything I've been sent but can't seem to find anything. Do we pay before we arrive?

At my college we have 2 weeks to pay for accommodation after we arrive. I think it's the same a tuition if you're not getting student finance.

You may pay when you matriculate though.

It varies from college to college, at mine - tuition, accommodation and EPOS are paid in three installments throughout the year, the first of which is on the 24th of October.

Ah ok thank you - just wanted to make sure I didn't have to do anything before I arrived or during freshers' week (while my bank account is being set up)

Don't worry, they never forget to send bills to students.
If you're paying tuition fee with student loan, the money goes directly to the college from Student Finance, so you don't need to do anything for that.
Happy autumn everyone! (my fave season by far)

Is it worth going over A Level content before I go?
