ANYONE WHO DID OCR MEI MATHS, Please Help!

I need help please. I do OCR MEI A LEVEL maths and I was trying to find other questions to do other than my past paper and textbook questions. Could someone please send me a few link to where I could find other questions for this exam board. I know there are solomon papers but I think they are more suited towards Edexcel/OCR (not MEI).

Could someone could link a few different sits where I could find some questions. I appreciate it, thanks. I basically just want to do other question efficiently other than past paper and textbook questions.

Also if anyone here does this exam board, do you have any tips for the C4 Comprehension - I know most say "don't worry about it, you can't learn anything for it" but I really don't do well in them but I can get A's or above in C3 and C4.

What don't you like about the textbook and past paper questions? Anything that hasn't been an exam question is probably going to be less useful for the exams than past questions. I think you can get them all the way back to the early 2000's, so you can't have done them all already. Honestly though there isn't much variation in C3 and C4 content between exam boards, so you could do their past papers and that'd be good practice. I am retaking next year btw that's why I have done all past papers and textbook questions.

About the comprehension, what kind of marks are you talking about when you say you don't do well- comprehension is a very small part of the overall mark and doing slightly worse won't really make a difference. When you read through the information do you feel you understand it?

It's just that I have done all the past papers including early 2000 ones and the text book questions so I am looking for other questions to do. I am a retake candidate btw.

About the comprehension, I dont get too many marks and often feel like I don't understand the content. Like say I get 65 in the paper /72 and 72/90 is an A , I probably wouldn't get 7 marks that I need to get an A in the comprehension.

Ah ok, didn't realise you were retaking sorry I'd recommend doing papers from other exam boards for practice- the maths is the same and if you come across something which isn't on your spec just skip it. It would be good to do the MEI papers again once you've forgotten them- I think after Christmas you'd probably be fine to start going through them again.

A comprehension mark of below 10 is quite a serious problem if you're getting A's on the main part- you should be getting more like 15/18. Make sure you take your time reading the information- it's fine to not even look at the questions until half an hour in. Every line you read ask yourself if you know what it means- if not read it again. Especially look at any equations in detail- there'll be marks available for substituting the right values in, so make sure you know what all the terms are.

I got an A* overall with full UMS on C4+comprehension I've done quite a bit of self-teaching maths and I think that helped with the comprehension because I was used to learning new maths on my own. Maybe consider reading popular maths books or researching topics on the internet to practice understanding maths on your own?

Your other option of course is just to focus on the main C4 paper and up your mark in that- I think it's always possible to get a high B or low A without getting anything in comprehension, and if you get mid/high A's on C3 and whatever your applied module you could get an A overall with a very low comprehension.

I'd keep trying to improve comprehension though- the key is understanding the text. The questions are actually very basic if you understand what you've read, and most people in my class found it an easy source of marks once they got the hang of it.

I just used the standard MEI textbooks to learn from, and made sure I did all the questions when we'd finished a topic. I thought marking past papers myself was very useful- it's important to see exactly what you did wrong and to then redo the question a couple of days later and make sure you get it right. Questions in the c4 papers can be weird. Which uni are you studying and what are you reading? Also how did you do in your other subjects?

I'm doing Natural Sciences at Cambridge University- moving there on Sunday I got 4 A* in Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Biology and an A in AS further maths.

So I did MEI for maths, OCR for chemistry and physics and AQA for biology. Not really sure about career prospects to be honest- I want to specialise in physics and I'd love to do research but that might change as I do my degree. What other subjects are you doing?

Chemistry I just did normal OCR- not Salters. Biology was definitely my least favourite, mainly because the mark schemes were completely random for the long answer questions- you could so easily write relevant stuff but not get any marks for it. I think I only did new spec papers but my teacher gave us packs of questions for some of the topics and they may have had old spec stuff on them- not really sure.

For unit 4 there's loads of stuff to memorise. Go over respiration and photosynthesis until you can write down every step with no notes- I drew two A3 diagrams with arrows to show all the reactions and I thought visualising it helped a lot. Also learn the steps of the nitrogen cycle and eutrophication and learn the mark scheme for the natural selection long questions, because the marks are in the same place every year.

For paper 5 it's important to know all the steps in nerve impulses, synapses, muscle contraction and transcription/translation. Again, diagrams are helpful. The weird questions in the exam are mostly compensated for by low grade boundaries, so I just try to write something vaguely related to the question and try not to worry about them.

Did you do all the questions from the packs your teacher gave you? Where could I find these packs?

Also what book did you use to revise with and did you do any other questions other than past papers and the packs your teacher gave you?

I'm fine with content, it's just exam practice. they have weird data questions and stuff and I find some questions really odd. I really need help with the exam practice.

Also how did you do in each unit UMS WISE in all your subjects (bio, chem maths and FM)? I'm really curious.
