So what would the perpendicular gradient be to the gradient of 1?

Then use yy1=m(xx1)y-y_1=m'(x-x_1)

Yeah, I think you misread lol. I said what would the the perp gradient be to the gradient of 1, so -1 is the perp gradient to 1.
