Mechanics help?

How could I solve this question? A diagram would be great, but an explanation on its own would be very good as well.

Thanks!

EDIT: Sorry, I thought it had been attached successfully. Evidently not :-(!

It won't attach (I think) - here it is: 'A girl, of mass 40kg, is travelling in a lift holding a parcel by means of a light, inextensible string. The lift is travelling upwards and decelerating at 3ms-2, and the contact force exerted by the girl on the floor of the lift is 294N. Find the mass of the parcel.'

Don't diss I am an amazing artist
Now what I hope you shall see is the directions of everything and you have been given a few forces and an acceleration.
Do you see what you may be having to do here?
@the bear fingers crossed I haven't messed up, M1 was a small while ago

That drawing is amazing! But doesn't the question say, 'the contact force exerted by the girl on the floor of the lift'. That part confused me a bit.

Thanks for the diagram! What about the tension in the string?

the T in the string acts upwards, lol cba to draw lol
so just formulate an equation, remember (Newton's 2nd law)I believe Monsieur Bear has saved you such trouble
