Current Queens' College Students!

I'm thinking of applying to Queens and the only thing holding me back is the food... I don't want to have to try to cook in my first year when I should be socialising, but I'm a vegetarian who wants to eat healthy. From the menu on the website the food looks pretty bad to be honest- is that accurate?
My first choice college was Pembroke but another girl in my school beat me to it...

A couple of colleges have less than favourable reputation on their food (but improving., but queens is not one of them.

And no need to worry about multiple students from a same school applying to a same college.

Why can't you cook and socialise? Cooking is a great way to spend time with friends, and you get a meal at the end of it.

My school doesn't want us to, mostly because they don't want bad feelings if one of us doesn't get in. Does Queens have good choice of healthy veg options?

Did you read the thread I linked which included advice from a Cambridge AT?

(Also, all colleges have a vegetarian option. http://www.queens.cam.ac.uk/life-at-queens/domestic/catering/cafeteria-menu)

All colleges have a vegetarian option, but usually only one choice for a day.
Some colleges do a vegetarian week occasionally when all meals become vegetarian and have a few choices, and even a vegan day, occasionally at some.
Whether it's healthy enough for you or not is probably for you to decide, but i really don't think there's not much difference between colleges to be honest.
And all colleges' catering department regularly ask their students for feedback on the food they serve and try to improve it all the time as much as possible. So you'll have a chance to influence them. (to some extent......) Their menu is not set in a stone.......

If you like Queens', apply there. And if you don't like the food, cook yourself.
There's also a legendary (in terms of their history) vegetarian restaurant on King's Parade if you can afford to eat out occasionally.

How good is Catz for food?

Also you're not expected to eat 2 cooked meals a day are you? When I went to Peterhouse on the residential there was only cooked food for lunch, no sandwiches or other smaller meals, and I think that would get a little overwhelming after a few weeks.

I only know ex-catz who graduated years ago, so I'm not sure how their food like these days, but they told me the food they'd had at reunion, etc, were always good. But I suppose that's a different standard of food from what students eat every day.
But honestly, I really don't think there is much big difference in quality of food between colleges when it comes to daily meals.....

Not sure about Peterhouse, but many colleges serve light meals/snack at cafe (which often turns into a bar in the evening), like sandwiches, paninis, quiches, soups, too.
Some colleges only serve lunches (like above) in a cafe and evening meals in a buttery.

And many students rustle up sandwich or something simple by themselves for lunch. My daughter took a panini press to her college in her second year for her lunch.

Yes I did, thank you! Its rather complicated by the fact that the other girl applying is my best friend, who isn't comfortable with us both applying as she feels it will damage her chances. I feel fine about it but in the interest of harmony (and her pushy parents) I'm willing to change
Forgot to say earlier.....

You don't have to have lunch at your college, you know?
There're many sandwich shops/cafes in town and food stalls/vans in the market square.
If you have lectures in am and pm, you don't necessarily go back to your college just to have lunch.
