This is Nomenclature. Using the IUPAC naming system, identify the longest carbon chain (very important!) Locate any functional groups & always use the smallest possible number for the carbon atom the functional group is bonded too. If there's more than one functional group, which there is on the second compound, the functional group with the letter first in the alphabet comes first in the name.

So the first one is 3-methylpentane
Second is 2-chloro-2-methylpropane

It's 3-methylpentane, you need to use the longest chain. On the second one, to be 100% correct using the IUPAC system you need to put dashes in & say on what carbon atom the -methyl group is bonded too. So it's 2-chloro-2-methylpropane
