Probability and sample space

Need help with the following question:
A race takes place between three horses A;B and C. It is possible that one or more of
them may fall and so fail to complete the race. The finishing horses are recorded in the
order in which they finish.
i) Write down the sample space as a set of symbols. Explain your notation.
ii) Write down the event “The race is won by horse A” as a set.
iii) Write down the event “Horse B falls” as a set.
iv) Write down the event “All horses complete the race” as a set.
How could you handle the possibility that two or more horses arrive simultaneously?

That's exactly what i was struggling; i think your meant to ignore the possibility of two or more horses arriving simultaneously. I've posted the full question as set by my lecture. There's no missing information

You're creating your own sample space here so it doesn't really matter how you do it.

E.g. If your sample space was {ABC, BAC, AC, A, ...}

Where ABC represents A followed by B followed by C
And AC represents A followed by C and B fell.

Then you could have maybe A*CB

Where a * between two letters means that the two horses arrived simultaneously.

As long as you define what A*C means then this should be fine.
