What does it mean when a certain MSc Programme has been cancelled at LSE?

A certain MSc programme has been running for years at LSE but is unavailable for the application for the academic year 2017-2018 (it is still running for 2016-2017). Why do you think this may be? Is it due to rename, lack of postgraduate students actually enrolling, change of content, department funds etc?

Could be any one or a combo of all those factors, plus possibly losing key staff.

The Masters I completed in 2012 hasn't been run for a while now. They lost two key teaching staff (one retired, one moved on to a job outside academia) which meant that the core specialisms are no longer available. It's also quite selective (1 offer for every 8 applications in my year) so there isn't the demand to justify recruiting new specialists.

I suppose it reduces the number of potential specialists trained in my field and makes my employment prospects better. There's nothing like a lack of competition
