choosing oxford college....help

what i would like is somewhere social, where it's relatively to meet new people and integrate, i also don't really wan't a particularly small college- would like somewhere central ish - wouldn't like to travel to far to lectures- 10-15 min walk max (i'm wishing to study e &m so colleges reasonably close to these lectures). I'm fairly sporty so a college with a gym/ sport pitches (especially for rugby ) would be beneficial. I don't mind about catered or non-catered...catered would perhaps edge it ( if the foods good). I would also like a college which has the option to attend formals, butals a relaxed atmosphere where people can be casual etc....if i ave given anything of value to go off pleeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaasssseeee help!! much appreciated ))))))

- Very sociable, lots of college societies to get involved in
- It is the 4th biggest college. It is small enough for you to know everyone in your year if you want to BUT big enough if you're a bit of a shy wallflower like me and want to remain anonymous
- Near the Said Business School and about a 5-7 min walk to Carfax (city centre), depending on how speedy you are
- Only college to have multi-purpose sports pitches ON SITE
- Formal hall 4 times a week but also 'first hall' (canteen style) for dinner, and the hall is open for breakfast and lunch too. 72% ensuite with access to good kitchen facilities, if you fancy having snacks at odd times

We also have a LAKE, DUCKS and BIG LAWNS YOU CAN WALK ON

There is no good reason to NOT apply to Woosta. Not that I'm saying there aren't other great colleges - there are. But Woosta meets your description very well indeed

My school suggested I shouldn't apply to Worcester but only because about half my school's Oxford applicants had already decided they wanted to apply there. I think that probably says all you need to know about how nice Worcester is.

You are kidding me, right? When I applied it was had one of the biggest private school acceptance rates

Don't let things like that put you off. There is no bias either way. If you are worthy of a place, they will fight to get you one: either at Woosta or via the internal pooling system. You have nothing to fear about levels of private school acceptance shiz. @RichE can back me up on this

In any case, being amongst state school students isn't gonna harm you, you know It's very hard to tell what schooling anyone has had tbh. It doesn't affect anyone's academic studies or socialising

Bit of a long story. I actually didn't wanna apply to Oxford at al but there was the family expectation that I would, because my older sister went there. Older sister suggested I apply to Wadham but they didn't do undergrad music at the time. When she heard that, she said "go look at Worcester, then". So I signed up for the college open day.

Went there, walked past the Lodge through to the main quadrangle, saw the Pemberley-esque buildings on the right-hand side and was like I was like HELL YEAH, I WANNA LIVE IN PEMBERLEY FOR THREE YEARS

Plus there was just something in the air, a certain je ne sais quoi. But it was a good thing and I felt like I could be at home there

Then I went to meet the college's tutor for music. He was meant to only spend 45 mins with us potential applicants but we were there for about 90 mins whilst he told us all about Oxford. Then halfway through he stops himself and said "do you know why you should apply to Worcester?" We shook our heads, expecting some deep academic reason. Then he goes "the food is VERY good!" And I basically think with my stomach, so I was like SOLD

And the rest is history
