How easy is it to make friends at University?

I should (lmao) be going next year and I'm the only one out of my friends who wants to go to a University out of our home city. Is it easy to make friends with others?
Depending on how confident you are and if you are living in halls...unfortunately I am neither so it was kinda difficult..

At university you will meet really a lot of new people from all walks of life, cultures, and countries with a huge range of interests, personalities, and lifestyles. It can be a little bit hard ot make good friendships at first if you are a little bit shy but always people eventually find 'their people' and because of the similar goals you will share with your university friends you are likely to become lifetime friends.

Everyone goes to university open minded and very willing and eager to meet people and to make new friends. Really the other students will be very friendly and I hope that you will be pleasantly suprised and just how social and welcoming an atmosphere it is
TBH, if you don't know anyone and you don't click with your housemates it's pretty difficult.
Depends. Easy for some and not for others. Whats your confidence and social skills like?

It goes on all sorts of factors. Luck, type of accommm, how much effort you put in etc.

I agree. Unless, you're very outgoing.

Hello

It depends, the bottom line is, if you're willing to make the effort then yes!
If you decide to live in halls, you have the opportunity to bound with your flatmates and make friends with them. You have the opportunity to make friends with people off your course and you can also join societies to make friends.

As long as you're willing to put in the effort, there are plenty of opportunities.

Good luck!

How long is a piece of string?! It depends on many factors! To an extent, how you are now may well largely influence how you find it, if you are outgoing and sociable you will probably have a great time, if you are shy it may be a struggle. However, it will partly depend on who you end up with.

I think the main thing to be 'prepared for' is the 'full on ness' potentially of the whole experience. At the moment, you will obviously socialise at college and in evenings/weekends but go home at night. At Uni, other people are around all the time unless you lock yourself in your room (obviously you will do this when you are asleep/in your bathroom ) -not recommended if you want to make friends! If you like your own space, this can feel overwhelming and it may feel like you are in the 'Big Brother House' - but if I could offer myself advice (I am in my late 30s and Uni was a struggle socially for me) just go with it, enjoy it and accept you will never quite get such a social opportunity again! (by 2nd year you will be in houses and already it will get more insular.)

PS don't worry about what your current friends are doing, live YOUR life!
