How difficult is a 2:1?

How difficult is to get a 2:1 from a top twenty uni?

If you get in you are good enough to get a 2:1. Basically, if you put in effort, actually try, and make use of the help available it should be quite easy to get a 2:1.

Depends on the course you're doing. 2:1 isn't hard, but you do need to put in some effort to achieve it. Don't get too complacent.

This is really backing up what the other posters have said, but yes, a 2:1 is fairly achievable if you are willing to put in the effort and work for it. Stay on top of your work, leave plenty of time for assignments and such and just work for it!

And if it's, say, Sheffield Sociology you can't expect it to be an academic powerhouse of a course.

That's an almost impossible question to answer... it depends on the subject, the university, your educational attainment, your natural ability, your commitment to studying, etc etc.

In general it is doable with the right attitude, commitment, and hard work. It is certainly not a walk in the park but it is achievable for most as long as you put in A LOT of effort with your work.

Don't take it for granted that you will graduate with a 2:1 "because everyone does" because this is a surefire way for you to NOT graduate with a 2:1.... students put in a whole load of work to achieve this, a lot of which you don't always see from the outside.
