Moving to another accomodation

Basically, I go to uni in Nottingham and I'm currently in catered hall but would like to move to self catered halls. I was wondering if anyone had any experience moving accommodation a few weeks after freshers - would it be too late to socialise with flatmates, for example? It'd also be quite hard to move in the first place as I would have to find someone who is willing to swap rooms with me.

No, it's not too late. Get to know your flatmates when you settle in, just go with small talk and build up a friendship. Eventually they should invite you to night outs.

I'm alright with people if they're friendly and social but I'm mainly worried about the chance that I move to a dead flat where people just isn't interested, dunno if in that case it's acceptable to act like it's freshers again and talk to nearby flats instead.
