BSkyB is a dying business....

The future is YouTube (owned by Google) and Netflix.

The only thing keeping BSkyB afloat is Sky Sports. Once they lose big rights to the BBC/BT sport, they are finished.

Alright mate, I'm getting paid so I don't really care lmao

Fair enough, but Sky is not what it used to be.

It's probably best to take the grad scheme, do your three years or whatever and move on.
which accommodation did you stay in, did you like it?

I actually lived at home, I lived about 40 mins by the tube so didn't feel the need to live on campus.
Hi. Is it true that if you live at home it's harder to socialise or make friends easily?

I definitely found it harder, but if you make the extra effort to meet people then it shouldn't make a difference. Join societies and clubs, then try to go to as many events as you can. I lived about 40 minutes from uni so I could have made more friends than I did but I was just overwhelmed with work so that was the issue really.
Will I struggle with computer science if I haven't done maths at a level?

If you mean with regards to the course at City University, then no, you will not struggle at all. The Maths you do in year 1 is very basic statistics and decision maths, you'll pick it up fairly quickly as most of it is just common sense. If you're doing the pure Computer Science course then in year 3 you'll do some advanced maths but that's more to do with predicate logic, it's not really maths as such.
Would happen to know any information about their distance learning LLM? I got accepted and am wondering if anyone can comment on whether its purely correspondence and deadlines or is there a camera and class interaction element?

I've studied online before, so curious to know how they do it here. Plus I think the cost is good value in comparison to other online LLM programs.

Thanks

Congrats to all new starters at City University London! I studied Computer Science for 4 years and now I'm on a graduate scheme for Sky. For those starting, reply with your questions!

I'll try to answer everything I know about living in halls, uni, courses, places to eat, career prospects, nightlife, etc..

Or you can PM me if there's anything you want to discuss privately.

Go!

I'm not sure much about their LLM course I'm afraid, it's not my field :frown:

I'm not too familiar with that course I'm afraid :frown: What are City and DMU asking for?
Hi UWS! I'm considering Computer Science at City. How much of the course was assessed by exam and how much of it was assesed by coursework? Also, roughly, how many contact hours did you have per week?

I think it roughly averaged around to 60% exam and 40% coursework when I was there. Some modules carry more weight on exams or coursework, it really depends on the structure for that year. Most of the technical modules are a 70%-30% split on exam to coursework though.

The bootcamp thing was introduced a year after I started at City so I never did it myself. Having said that, people have said that while boring, it does help a lot with learning Java. I don't think Java is a hard language at all. You can easily learn and practice from tutorials on Youtube

hi
can you please put me in touch with a past student from city university who has done msc in business analysis and design full course as i have been offered the place at city and have many queries relating to that.
thanks

I have a family member who works at a hospital and they say that quite a few of their midwives did their degree at City University. I'd imagine it's quite popular, I've seen them study in groups but that's it. They have quite a big society but as far as how good the course is, I can't really comment I'm afraid.

Have you tried turning it off and on again?
