Edexcel IGCSE biology paper 2 unofficial markscheme

1. Less oxygen to muscle cells, less aerobic resp, more anaerobic, Moreno lactic acid and enzymes denature

Glucose
Amino acids
Or salts

Insulation and energy reserve

Glycerol

Planktons --> anchovies ---> salmon

People eat fish, so less less fish. Less Wild anchovies for wild salmon and fish Farming more popular

Energy loss via movements and excretion. Not all of it is eaten. Not all energy transferred

Restriction and ligase, cuts dna

Plasmid and viral vector, transport DNA

Circular muscles contract, pupil constricts And less light enters

Optical nerve damage meaning that's electrical impulses are dodgy

Less light enters due to cataracts and light isn't focused onto the retina therefore decrease in ability but to see

26 million

Some of rats are cured so therefore lansterol has an effect on cataracts - use figures

No repeats , could be anomalous

Humans might react different to lansterol

Pollen

Break down starch reserves into glucose for repsiration

B - temp for optimum ph Water to activate enzymes, oxygen for ph

Haemoglobin and transport oxygen

Phagocyte

Help blood to clot

Plasma

Memory cells easy four marker

Homeostaisis

Sweat glands secrete sweat and water evaporate and heat transfers

Capillaries dialate, more blood and faster rate of heat transfer

Osmoregulation

Kidney

Organism that contain DNA from different species

E.g. Pigs providing organs for transplants

Genetically the same, any time of year

I swear it said name the structure that contains the male sex organ?
Anther, not pollen. White blood cells, not phagocytes

Yeah , I put anther too. And for the blood cells I think they'll accept either because phagocyte literally means 'cell eating'

They accept both but phagocyte is more specific

Hey guys,

Query: for the food chain shouldn't humans be at the top? Since they consume
salmon, which is implied in the passage.
It would be right as well...but if you ended at salmon it wouldn't male a difference

I put anther instead of pollen
What did everyone put for the rats question about agreeing with results and disagreeing with results on the bar chart?
What did people put for the lipids/heart disease question?
And which group of plants germinated first, ABCD?
What about the cataracts cause question?
And the benefits of cloning?

Lipids and heart disease:
Fatty acids and glycerol are present in the blood
These can cause blockages in the coronary arteries and veins
This preventsblood from flowing, so less oxygen is provided to the cardiac muscles
A lack of respiration causes irregular contractions.

Benefits of Cloning:
There is no genetic variation, and all the genes present in the offspring are the same in the parent. Therefore the desired characteristics are retained.
Ah think I've done really well in this  I thought it asked for male part of plant though :/

They said from line 13 - 17. Humans weren't mentioned in those lines.
What about the seed's A,B,C or D?

I
Put d :/

Wasn't the one about the amount to light entering the eye about the Iris? I don't think you had to mention the circular muscles. Couldn't you just talk about the iris controlling the pupil's diameter?

The circular muscles contract and the radial muscles relax, which results in the pupil constricting. Therefore less light enters.
Guys, I didn't see the last page!! How many marks were on the last page of all the questions combined? Do you think i can still get an A star as i found paper 1 and the rest of p2 quite good
