how did your skills tests go Lisa? I have mine on Monday and Wednesday, what are they like compared to the tests we did on the interview day?

Sorry Josie, I've only just seen this. Congrats on passing your skills tests! I passed too, didn't find them too hard. The speed of the mental maths was definitely the most difficult bit!

Just wondering, have you heard anything from Manchester since the email before Christmas? I was expecting a letter, or track to change but haven't heard anything and starting to get slightly worried!

Hi everyone,

I found the maths easy but struggled with the science for some reason though the questions weren't really that hard. I think it might have been because it was at the end of a really long, stressful, cold day.

I guess we all did well in some areas and not so well in others. It's up to them now to weigh up the results. You never know what their priorities are in any particular batch, (from those who pass their tests that is). The waiting is going to give me more stress now

Hi Lisa,
Yeah that got me too, I missed the first mental maths question but I was alright after that.

Did you get the email with all the forms on that you have to fill in and send back? They also sent me a letter in the post about accommodation but that's about it.

I totally agree, couldn't have put it better myself! We all have our own strengths and weaknesses and it's now up to them to decide!
I'm praying they let me in because I just found out today that I didn't get my school direct place....too much competition! Maybe the PGCE is the route for me?

Ok, thanks for letting me know. I haven't heard anything yet :-( Think it might be time to ring them! I did apply for the language specialism though, so that could be why.

I don't think there is all that much competition on the SD route, from what I hear from other forums. I tried to call a provider today to ask them (again!)to remove my application from the TA website so I can apply somewhere else. They told me categorically I had been rejected weeks ago and the school should have informed me and the TA website should have caught up. It was as if I was making things up. I asked for some feedback. Exactly two hours later, I received an invitation to an interview from said school for a salaried placement. Something very weird is going on.

I think I would just prefer MU to any other route right now. Here's hoping.

I got a SD interview that was also through Manchester uni but didn't make it through the interview. The head teacher from the school was really lovely though and gave me some wonderful feedback. The same day I found out I'd got on the PGCE course. I think that's the best way really, especially if like me you didn't qualify for the salaried option.

Hi everyone,

I found out on Track a week ago that I've got an interview on 8th Feb but I haven't heard anything from Manchester uni yet about it, did you all receive letters/emails from them about it and if so how long did it take for you to get it?

Thanks

Hello

I have my interview on Friday... Please can anybody tell me if the maths test is all non-calculator, or whether there is a calculator section too?

Thanks!

There are parts you need a calculator for, they'll provide you with one though.

Hi guys,

Had my interview on the 8th... Just wondering how long it took people to hear back? Was it the whole ten working days? I know they said they would try and let people know asap if they had been unsuccessful and I have been checking track probably too often! x

I had mine on the 8th too. The waiting is awful, I would like to think having not heard back is positive but no one seems to have heard anything?! I've caved in a few times and called to see if there was any news, my last one was yesterday and they said they were still marking tests.
Fingers crossed, the final day out of 10 working days wait...

I know this thread is so old but how did everyone do? I have the exact same presentation and interview this week for UOM! Any tips and advice or general comments about how you've done would be appreciated!

Hey,

I'm having the same interview at UoM and wanted to know what to expect. How did it go for you? I'm having an interview for secondary, but shouldn't be too different.

For the Teaching task (You will be required to engage in a small group teaching task conducted with other candidates.) did you have to make an individual presentation?
