I need a suit for school prom coming up soon, I have never bought a suit before.

Does anyone know where I can find suits which are stylish but below £80? Or if hiring is cheaper?


Sale sections of Topman/Burton/River Island etc. TK Maxx is definitely worth a punt if there's one locally too. When you say £80 for a suit do you mean the jacket and trousers, or jacket, trousers, shirt, shoes, accessories? With a bit of luck, £80 can buy a decent jacket and trousers but there's no way the rest will for on budget.

Do you know what you're looking for/how a suit should fit?

Not sure if the plaid mixed with the bold black is a good combination or not. Can get them for 25 at the mo, so a fair bit cheaper than other colours!
Anyone have any recommendations for good clean cut harrington jackets? or any other similar casual jackets.

Slim fit would be preferable + not particularly keen on elasticated cuffs/waist, or anything that buldges out around the middle like some sort of puffy bomber jacket.

Thanks for your reply :smile: I'll have a look and yeah I'm only looking at buying a jacket and trousers, I've never worn a suit before so I'm not sure about the sizing?

Yes, I found them on the Office site, the rest of the Vans Authentics which are on sale are in awful colours, and at the moment I just don't have the budget to spend more than 25-30 on a pair of shoes :frown:

Although I am in desperate need of some casual trainers, my New Look Hi Tops are destroyed now, with a hole going right through the sole haha.

Opinions on these desert boots for the summer? I'm very tempted, but just not really sure what I would wear with them:

Yeah the vans authentics in the sale are pretty poor, there was a pair of Vans 106 which I liked (red/burgendy) but I prefer the style of authentics over 106 :biggrin:

I have always wanted a pair of desert boots but like you, I never really sure on what to wear them with. They do look pretty good though and a fairly cheap price as well. I just went for a new pair of converse in the end simply because they will go with pretty much both shorts and jeans during the summer

I own some desert boots, and pair them with either chinos or dark jeans. I think they look good with either, though my boots are in need of replacing as they are stained from two years of wearing them spring through till autumn.

Also, they look alright. Not bad at all for £15!

The mid-wash one, the light one looks a little silly imo. They fit slim at Zara (Medium is 38, Large is 40 etc) so remember to size up.

Yeah, think I'm gonna go for them! I tend to mix it up and wear slim fit jeans, skinny jeans, beige chinos and I've just recently bought some grey smart casual trousers, so theres bound to be a few combos there which work....
