Actually my sister is by far the more normal one. She is pretty and fashionable and popular and doesn't read or do sports

How can not reading be normal??

(...although it might help explain the lack of beaver knowledge )

I'm surrounded by A-level students (and noisy ones BBMing each other at that) in the Wellcome of all places.

Oh I just mean that my sister is like a stereotypical cool person. Which is probably doing her a massive disservice in that she's a brownie leader and has a Maths degree and is often quite tolerable and even occasionally nice :p: But I got the mad, scatty, socially awkward, fashion illiterate genes and she got the smile and the popularity and the awesome hair and all the actual talent. (She's actually always been better at sport than me and better at music, but whereas I became a band geek and a rower at uni, she had fun and made friends).

But yeah, she didn't read a book cover to cover until she was 18. I read her GCSE English books for her and told her what happened.

ack, sorry. i accidentally down voted your post when trying to reply to it.

that does sound very annoying and hopefully they don't stay very long or at least quiet down. agree that the wellcome library wasn't somewhere i'd exleft to run in to that.

reminds me of someone who was saying what a great hangout spot the british library is...which fair enough i suppose for breaks but when it gets too crowded to get stuff done is really annoying.
Whoever these hoaxers are, they're real bastards.

I don't live in college this year. Since we are both studying at Oxford we got couples' accommodation so we live in a flat. I will miss having my own house.

I did not realise you knew each other before your MA. I always assumed you met on your course or on TSR :colondollar:

They haven't quite worked out the final cost yet - it depends on which printers take up the tender - but it should be somewhere around £15 for a fully illustrated paperback. And, if I buy it then I get an author discount so it works out about £12 on that basis or, if it comes out at the higher price of £20, about £15 on the next scale. All of which is to say, I hope it's very much an affordable book and of course I will even though I'd feel silly doing it!

Reasonable price. What is it about?
God damn it trying to find accurate tunings for my lyre is nigh on one of the most annoying things ever.

I can use pentatonics, but that precludes singing epic....I can use the C natural but that makes playing most melodies awkward as hell...

I can think of 4/5 accurate tunings and I like none of them!

I really want to use C F B G etc because it seems like the most perfect comprimise but its historically unattested. :frown: :frown: :frown:

Also my first ode (gods placed strife upon the earth....but gifts flow like water to those who are noble...yes that's the title), of which only 6 lines are done, is in the kind of poncy Greek I dislike.

This is my girlfriend's local town, and where she is at the moment. It is a cool idea.

The vet thinks our one cat has a nasal tumour. 90% sure. We'll need a specialist to check, buf if it is the case we're going to have to put him down. Apparently some people go the chemotherapy route, but I can't see the point in putting him through that when it will be horrible and he won't understand what's going on, just so we can have him around a bit longer. We've had him for over 12 years now. I'm devastated.
Oh no. I am so, so sorry. You must be going through hell. Big hugs to you. :frown:

Yeah, very strange. Could semi understand if they were working on History of Med but they weren't. I hate this time of year - exams everywhere. And that coupled with my entire uni area basically being no access allowed during the Olympics, I'm beginning to hate being a London student at times

:frown: I am so sorry. I constantly worry about my dog as she is getting old but I try to remember that she had a good life and that's what matters :frown:
