While I was applying I also heard that certain uni's only interview applicants who have a course at the uni as their first choice... but some also had courses applicable as either route a or route b (which no longer applies since route b finished for this years' applicants - i.e. my lot) I applied to Camberwell via route b, first choice - got and interview and then found out that I could have applied to LCC's Photography course via route a and could have got an interview there, it was slightly confusing - but now there is no route b I think it's a case of first choice priority or something, then again I wouldn't know for sure
The courses at UAL in particular are generally very popular, it would make sense if they only interviewed those applicants with their courses as their first choice in UCAS... don't know about anywhere else.
