I need to submit a history essay for Cambridge.
As we don`t write essays for school, I need to write them at home on my own. The problem is finding a nice topic though...
I would really appreciate any suggestions! (preferably about the Middle Ages)
Thanks!

My goodness!! You seriously don't write history essays at school?? That is bad :s-smilie: ..... anyway, I'm studying the Reformation in Europe from 1450-1600, which I find really interesting .. it's like all about Martin Luther and the religious shifting of the Catholic Church; i consider religion to be one of the key developements of human history, alongside technology and all that jazz ... maybe you could research and write about factors that 'paved the way for Martin Luther' and caused interest in reforming the Church;
Key points would be;

Humanists ideas - talking about Erasmus and his books
State of the Church - how like lots of priests were illiterate and went against the rules of celibacy
Politics - the political state of the Pope and greedy rulers who wanted the Church's money and territory
Printing Press - get really excited about the printing press :biggrin: how it helped spread ideas quickly around Europe

Of course, you may have already done your essay by then, but if not and you're still stuck for ideas, hope this is a good suggestion!! :smile:
Got an offer from Cardiff! :biggrin:

Thank you very much for your help :biggrin:
I appreciate your efforts a lot, although I have already written one of the essays and started on the second...

I´m at a German school, so we can`t specialise in certain subjects :frown: I do only have two History lessons per week, so it`s quite daunting to apply to an English uni where all the other applicants have taken an A-Level in History...
Well, I have to make the most of my situation, as I can`t change it :s-smilie:

Good luck for your application!!!!
