When was your audition?

Hiya,

It was on the 21st of February in the evening. x

I wonder if Jack thinks he's playing solo at the Opening Ceremony?

Way too much detail about what happened at the drumming auditions in that article for my liking - whatever happened to "what happens in ceremonies stays in ceremonies" eh? For Jack's sake I hope his decision to speak to the press in this way does not back-fire on him adversely. Not sure how happy casting would feel to discover we were not keeping it all confidential as they specifically asked (talking amongst ourselves, as a group of people who have all gone through a similar process, is one thing but not sure about discussing it more widely except perhaps with close friends or family members or maybe your line manager at work etc. re. the possibility of time off being required for rehearsals only - even he/she doesn't need to know every detail before deciding whether you can be given leave to take part after all do they !!!)

Hi guys,

Do you think I should stop hoping to get a cast offer email or are they late on the offers? I am starting to giving up on my hopes... Too bad really it would have been an amazing experience... x

Oh don't give up hope (not yet anyway) - some of us have been on the RESERVE list since January having auditioned back in November 2011 and we are still hopefully in the absence of anything concrete by way of update to the contrary.

Not an ideal situation to be in of course but we're all dealing with it somehow !

I don't get it  WHERE does it say that he'll be playing solo? Or is "Jack" (or the reporter) assuming that he'll be playing solo?

A drumming friend of mine recently announced that he received a Cast Offer to drum in both the opening and closing ceremonies of the Olympics. Took many of us who know him pleasantly by surprise because he kept absolutely quiet about attending the auditions in the first place.

That's more like how to behave before/after the audition I think !

Not sure whether you were audtioning for the paralympics or main ceremonies, but certainly don't give up yet. No-one (that we know of !) has had any response yet from the paralympic auditions. A few have heard about the main ceremony auditions from the Feb round of recalls but not many and I think they have been more specialist roles like the pointe dancers. Flakeydom and her amazing spreadsheet will have it more closely recorded.
If you havn't heard anything it doesn't mean you've been rejected, replies are definitely later than originally suggested by casting.
Hang on in there !

Thanks for your kind email. It is just that I have been reading the messages on here and saw that the first rehearsal is in less than 2 weeks and kind loosing hopes now as we getting closer from the date. I am trying not to plan on anything as I want to be part of it so badly but at the same time I cannot keep having my life on hold if I will not be offer a role. I did got the holding email but thinking now they will email me the NO answer that is why it is taking forever! x

As there is a quote in the article from LOCOG I would suggest that Jack has done the article with their approval. Absolutely nothing about the ceremony is revealed. Those of us who have cast offers have been requested to contact our team co ordinators if we are approached by the press, which I have been and the ceremonies team are quite supportive about these interviews as long as no content about the actual ceremonies is given away.At the moment there really is nothing to be given away as rehersals haven't started and what can you get from knowing we hit a bucket a few times!

Theres is more information posted in this thread than there is in that article.

I've decided against doing my press article btw.

Totally agree. Obviously the Cast Co-Ordinators would expect us to tell our close friends/family/ employers details of the the rehearsals (up to a certain point) but I was always baffled by reports in the papers by those that like us, attended the auditions and were issued with Cast Offers and how they can go to the press and give information that is supposed to be confidential? I often wondered whether those who spoke to the press spoke to Ceremonies first before "revealing almost all" to the press? If they didn't receive an official agreement to "spill their guts" (so to speak), whether Ceremonies would strike them off the offer list for revealing too much?

Except that it's not since while we might think we are only discussing within fellow auditionees, this thread is available for anyone online to read and since it appears on the front page of Google's Olympic ceremony search results, is quite visible. It is one reason why despite all the info on the spreadsheet being available piecemeal here, I haven't made it a public document and am wary about what stat details I pull out.

As rehearsals start, this thread probably should only still be updated on reserve promotion news or arranging a future meet up to avoid the risk of letting anything slip. Well - perhaps if there were sandwiches at the long rehearsals!

Very true. You don't need a TSR username to view all of this thread's contents! This probably explains why that we may never know how many people are actually following the events on this thread but have chosen not to participate. (Wouldn't be in the least surprised if members of the Ceremonies team are reading all what goes on on here.)

I absolutely agree with Flakeydom. Once rehearals start, for some on April 14, we must be absolutely clear that NO information of a sensitive nature must be posted on this thread as this site is open to absolutely anyone - it is not just a closed forum amongst friends- and we have had a couple of rogue messages in the past. After all we have now had 267,519 views on this site - I am sure not all from the 212 members here! We don't want this site to be banned or for any of us to lose our place through some inadvertent remark. Please take care peeps!

Yes but no-one reading this forum most probably can match comments to any particular Olympics ceremony performer, although I concur that we nevertheless still have to be prudent as to just how little/much detail we reveal on here just in case.

I can't imagine many non-performers are scrolling through over 5,400 postings to work it all out they way most/some of us have done so far over the past 6 months or whatever either, can you?

I'd be surprised in the press articles we have seen so far have been sanctioned by the ceremonies team if they don't want to set any precedent that it's o.k. for us to talk to journalists about what we're doing but provided/as long as we let them know first.

Just my own views of course. You don't have to agree with me (and probably don't in many respects). Personally I don't think they've actually given all that much away so far, but it nevertheless seems to go against a direct and specific request from the ceremonies team "not to do it" regardless of what is/was said !

Oh, I was just chuckling to myself that it could be read that young Jack was a superstar rather than one of a cast of thousands of superstars... Buckets. I should have guessed that!

And for those who haven't received any final response from the Casting Team(including me), remember that news is just that - no news. I've got a feeling that we'll all know by Easter, but that's just based of the creaking in my ageing bones. Stay strong!

I agree, for the reasons you give above Pinnerite, that those already cast need to be super careful what they say on here (& elsewhere) - there's not a great or genuine reason for anyone else to know or care about specifics much if it doesn't apply or affect them in any way after all !

Hey don't give up, I also had my recall for the main ceremonies in Feb...20th. I haven't heard anything yet and nor has my friend who had a recall for drumming.

Got to be soon though!!

Just got a reply from CC at ceremonies, DD's acceptance has been recorded and hard copies went special delivery today. Martelldance keep trying on occ80 - that's where our reply came from.
With regards confidentiality - maybe forming a private grouping somewhere would be a good option once rehearsals commence?

Fingers crossed for more good news to come this week :crossedf:

Keep 'phoning - I remember getting answerphone but kept trying and got through to a person. 02012 402040 seems to be the number however there is a 02012 402128 that you could try, also a switchboard number that might be helpful 02032 012000. Are you sure that the 'accept' button did not work, because I seem to recall that nothing appeared to happen when I clicked it, but when I hit it again a message did pop up to say I had already accepted? Good luck - if they are having tech problems then it won't just be you so I wouldn't worry.

Thanks makes me feel better... fingers crossed ;-) x
I was so excited yesterday morning at the prospect of 007 parachuting into the stadium, and then it seemed obvious it was an April Fool from The Sun, now I'm not sure any more because the story has appeared on both the Guardian and the Express and Metro websites and you'd think they'd have checked the validity of the story??? Or are newspaper reporters as easily taken in as the rest of us? Plus the Sun said their Arsenal perfume story was a fool but haven't mentioned 007. It would be lovely if it's true.

If it is true it must be one of the best ever non April fools.

If this was absolutely true, surely it would have been mentioned on the London Ceremonies website? Just checked the website and as there's no mention of it, then my take is that this story is a fake and the press were taken in by rogue story. (Especially as it was released on April Fool's Day.)
