In 5 part iv how are you meant to find the magnitude of the reaction force from the floor?

didnt you find they made the answer 0 a lot in the first 2-3 questions?! (i hope other people found this too :P )

Well AB is 300. So
V^2 = U^2 + 2aS
a is 2 s is 300 u is 5. Find v

thats what i did but for some reason in the exam it didnt work out so i should get method marks

I got the same answers. You had to consider the tension, acceleration (1.1 or whatever was given) and the mass of individual parts of the train and apply newton's second law.
Oh and the value of R.


for the first bit
was it T - Friction = M x A
i cant remember

then driving force - T - Friction = M x A ?

im fukin worried about that projectile question, i mean i did prove it [was more complex than needed to be, quadratic formula with sin etc] but it was proved that the ball goes over the bar. Hopefully the mark scheme will have two ways of showing it, or my examiner will like the fact i used a different method and be happy

As long as your working is clear and comprehensible, you'll get the marks. Key things here were:

Working out the time it took the ball to vertically return to 2.44m above ground

Using this time, check whether it reached the necessary horizontal distance of 50m.

Thought this was a pretty fair exam in comparison to others I have taken. Someone in the exam forgot his calculator and got offered a standard one O.o

Did you leave it as (12, 16) or did you then find the magnitude. I did the latter
