Is that AQA's Level 2 certificate? That'd be good to take if you're planning on taking Maths on to A-Level.

Yep! Planning to take Maths to A-Level but I've heard its petrifying scary. I think this could ease the pain a bit, but I'm having trouble grasping one of the "easier" topics, like inverse functions  . In fact, inverse functions in coming up in the new Maths GCSE too, so I recommend ambitious students to start practicing soon as possible (its a grade 9 topic)

But then again maybe I'm just stupid and pushing myself too far lol
Can someone please open the following attachment and tell me if it opens for you?
Its not opening for me and Its got some content which I need in order to proceed with my work.

Thank you

I wouldn't call that "one of the easier topics". I haven't really looked into it, but I have started work on Maths A-Level, even though I'm in Yr. 10. I think many people are shocked by the jump, which is fairly large. You'll find a large amount of overlap, however, especially in the topics of surds, graph transformations (inc. inversing functions), and iteration (which is in the new 9-1 GCSE), [with A-Level] and possibly co-ordinate geometry and calculus (sounds scary, but the basic principles are fairly simple!) if you took Further Maths. Don't be too intimidated by the past papers. Remember: you probably haven't learnt most of it yet.

Wait!! -- you've started work on Maths A-Level? Already?! And I thought I was ahead!!!

Honestly all the topics you mentioned sound scary to me lol. Graph transformations inc. inversing functions? Iteration? CALCULUS?!

but yeah, you're right. I'll learn it in due time (even the more reason to be scared :afraid:)

They might sound scary, but they're not as scary as they may seem. Don't stress yourself about it, some are actually quite tricky to pick up.
Hi all, general question out of curiosity. Does anybody yet know what they are doing for their A Levels and where they are going to do them?
I'll start:

I plan to go to either Reading College or Farnborough College. I think it will be reading however, as I don't have to change trains and I live 2 minutes away from my local train station so it's an easy journey .

I hope to be able to take History and Politics, however I may not be able to do Politics and I'll do Law instead, because Reading don't offer that sadly :frown:. That's why I want to go to Farnborough, because they do. I have no idea about the other two, possibly English and a Science (Chemistry probably)
Hey everyone! I hope you are enjoying your summer holidays and are looking forward to the new academic year!
The Millenium and 2001's kiddies group is now open! Please join it so we can socialise on there and stuff!

I don't know where I'll go, I'll probably stay in my school for sixth form, but I'm planning on taking Maths, Further Maths and Computer Science. (unsure whether we get a 4th choice now, considering how AS has been scrapped)

Just to add to MrMackyTV's comments, I'm very delighted that the group is now open and I would personally recommend joining so we can socialise and share stuff whether it's study related or not. Enjoy!

Just to add to my comments, I'm currently approving members to the group although I'm trying to get through technical problems. - JTran38

Hey i have chosen what I will be doing. I live in Bradford but won't be staying in Bradford when doing my A-levels.

I have chosen to do Chemistry, Biology, Psychology and maths. I think I will be only doing maths as an AS but don't know yet.

The reason I have chosen these is because I would love to do Medicine and at the university of Imperial in London. Its one of the hardest to get into, as its like Oxbridge, you need to do the BMAT and you need to get A*AA.
Finally, you need to do it for 6 years as after the 2nd year I think, can't remember, you do another coarse, so when you graduate, you get 2 degree's like Psychology.

I want to do a science based course in University, maybe biochemistry or genetics so i'll probably choose Chemistry, Biology and Maths but i heard that a level sciences are very hard :frown:. And I'm staying at my current school to do A levels
Hi, I'm Ellie. I really enjoy reading, writing, poetry, movies and tv shows. I'm really interested in all sorts of literature and I'm hoping to study English Literature at Oxford University when the time comes around. I'm doing:
English Literature ([predicted] 9)
English Language (9)
Maths (8)
RE (A*)
Biology (A*)
Chemistry (A)
Physics (A)
History (A*)
Spanish (A*)
Computer Science (A)
I think I am ready, but I have a tendency to overthink so I am already so incredibly worried about whether or not I'll achieve my predictions. My mock exam grades were a bit disappointing and I'm starting to worry about how I'll achieve my predictions because they are so high! Does anyone have any advice for how to worry less and achieve the grades I want?
My favourite subject is English Literature.
I'd say my dream career isn't certain, but I'd like to go into something like screenwriting, journalism or law.
I want my predicted grades so badly but I can't stop worrying!
