Hah, pretty much 90% of the Sixth Form felt those exams were 'naff. I can only hope for B's across the board and then resit the weakest and make it up in A2 although to be honest just one C will make me cry.

One B will make me cry -although in Chemistry I know a C or less is coming- and I know that sounds ridiculous, but I have put in the work for As across the board and i feel like with medicine being so competative, that I'd be applying on the punt. Now I've been wanting to do medicine for so long that I won't apply if I feel my application is a joke.

I want and have worked for As but know they aren't coming. Just make sure you get your predicted grades as high as your institution will put them.

I didn't like Denmark's entry, I did have a serious man-crush on Norway's act.

Oh to be Norwegian and hot...

he did look remarkably like Eric Saade from Sweden last year though. And he sang a song written by him. Perhaps hot Norwegians have secret societies where they exchange music and other stuff.

(conspires)

Whyyyy. Did you see her face? Her face!

I don't remember the Norway act. I have a bad memory for people I don't find attractive/funny :frown:

I know how you feel :/ You work flat out and think that it will be enough that you are sure to get As. Then the exam board throw something ridiculous together and suddenly you don't feel so sure. I actually feel like someone who didn't revise nearly as hard as I did for OCR bio could do a lot better than how I did :frown:

I guess she was quite attractive but for me personally she didn't stand out.

I thought Turkey's act was simply awful! i don't know how it got there, nor got so many points! Normally there are a few joke acts but Turkey seemed to be the only one, so people voted in droves.

I always like Moldova's acts. For the poorest country in europe, they have such light humour

Ugh completely the same, I will actually break down in tears if I don't get As in summer, don't know what I'll do if I don't get them, especially since my shortlist unis don't accept resits :/

Hmm, to be honest I agree. If I don't get straight As I may delay applying until next year, so I'd have my actual A2 grades. Remember it's very possible to get a disappointing set of AS's up to a string of As and A*s at A2.

Although I'm sure this won't apply to you because I expect you'll come out with great results in August
hmmm dont know if anyone would know, but I have a question. Does anybody know what specialisation plastic surgery would come under?

Plastic surgery is an umbrella term itself so I imagine you would use as is?

I suppose it depends on what area of the body you are focusing on..

I know exactly how you feel the how science works questions are just lucky guesses. You could know the textbook word for word and loose a whole grade because your guess is not the same as the mark scheme even if it's right.

It's a specialism in itself.

See this
http://www.bapras.org.uk

Basically the hierarchy would be: Medicine-->Surgery-->plastic /re-constructive/ aesthetic surgery

It's really it's own speciality though, you apply for it by itself in speciality training.

Yeah same. They called a meeting with medics at my school (quite a few - maybe 10-15 with everyone having a pretty decent chance, although every year there will be the people with all rejections). Just told us that booking was open, that they can't really help but he thinks there are some practice books and mock tests somewhere on the internet. And wished us good luck.

Haha very helpful  I kinda wish there was a bit more direction available, I mean I know what I will be doing to prepare but I'm sure some people aren't really sure where to even look. I don't know when I'm gonna start, needs to be soon though

yes. Our sixth form is huge but it's the only one in our city (apart from private schools, but they're inaccesable), so the majority of people progress there, and also we have people from up to 50 miles away come everyday. The college itself has every level of education from foundation courses for people who need those kind of skills for living, right through to foundation degrees. its huge!

 I'm worried I might just crack up in the test haha. As long as the situations aren't too far fetched I think I'll cope

Wow that's very impressive. Must kinda feel a bit like a uni then!

Not sure :/ I suppose it also depends on if you want to do it cosmetically or for burns and accident after care and that sort of thing. I thought it was a speciality in itself.
Yep from research it is a speciality in itself. Which is done after youve done training in general surgery :L

Thanks for the answers guys
Hey guys, does anyone know the earliest dates for medicine interviews?

It varies greatly between universities. This year, I think Birmingham were sending out invites before the UCAS deadline whereas some medical schools will wait until March. You can find the interview dates of this year's applicants here.
