How do you feel about this exam, have you studied? Will it be hard?

Also - has anyone got any good revision material?

Have not revised at all yet. I'll start tomorrow! I think that the key is how you answer it, since the material isn't too bad, right? But there are quite a few people's research and keywords to remember...I think it'll be fine.
(Hope I didn't jinx it O__o)

Hi, I am nervous for Tuesday as I just want to do well. How are you structuring thr 12 mark questions I use the three for three against for 24marks, but the sociology basics essays I have been told are marked upon knowledge (use of key words) reather than evalaution. Am I right?

How are you feeling about the 1 1/2 hour paper (also tues) I have studied the family, youth and crime and deviance.

Oh I hope they are nice to us :/

I don't know about the 12 marks question structuring but that is a great idea as I always run out of time for some reason in the practice ones T__T, what I've been told by my teacher was to use knowledge evaluate AND use key words ( esp dropping in sociological studies and names) so like IDENTIFY, JUSTIFY, EXPLAIN, LINK TO CONTEXT.

I'm studying Sociology methods(ie questionnaires), culture, identity, and socialisation. Mine's one hour, ^__^ There's only around 40 of us doing the exam so hopefully it'll be quite chilled

I am so nervous too. Do you know how to do the 12 mark question for the Research Methods paper. I'm finding it really tricky.

Just do a method and a sample. Explain how you will opertionalize (measure) it..

Then for the secondary evidence say this. (any question you could say this):

The secondary evidence that i will use will be a case study by a sociologist. I will search for this study by using online academic journals and will use a search engine to help me make sure that the results collected are on the right topic of "what the topic is about for example from last years" youth subculture and enjoyment. The secondary evidence is justified because sociologists are skilled and trained in conducing research so that the data collected will be valid and reliable and i could use it to check my findings from my primary research which is called Triangulation.

Sorry for the late reply :'(
How was it guys>

Well, for the 12 mark question. I basically wrote that my primary method would be I give structured interviews to the prison officers to see whether they thought prison reudced the amount of crime. My sample would be random as the prison officers would not be chosen selectively. Is that ok?

You will not get any marks for saying random.
I thought sociological basics was easy but the 2nd paper was helll. I think i got 50/60 in basics and 70/120 in the 2nd one. So b :frown:

Hey guys? How did it go for you guys?? It went ok, but not like WOW, I FRIKIN ACED THAT.
Quick question for those who did the basics one(seems to have some people doing crime, family and something else)
The question about what type of secondary evidence was source b(ie. the prisoner's pov in the newspaper) What did you guys put?
I put document-diary, but some people in my class put content analysis, and newspaper. Hoping to consolidate my answer...

It is newspaper or newspaper article. They will accept both xD
And according to last years mark scheme they will accept media materials
(edited 11 years ago)
I did all of the small questions first ans left question 5 and 9 for last; it was all going well until i left only 4 minutes for question nine and wrote only 2 things for "For" and one line for against... I think i did well on 5 though .... Anyone forget what to put for the queen and katie price picture? I realised it was achieved and ascribes AFTER THE EXAM!! :'(
