Pierre De Fermat was a French mathematician of the 17th century. He had a theorem in which he proved that there can be no integer solutions (x, y and z) in the form xⁿ+yⁿ=zⁿ for n>2. Believe it or not, he clearly stated that he could prove this... but he didn't have enough space on the paper for it. Then he dropped dead. Nobody could prove his theorem. This theorem was called Fermat's Last Theorem and was proven only in 1994 by a British mathematician Andrew Wiles who worked on it in secrecy for over 8 years before delivering a 3 hour long lecture to prove it.
