Good on you. I wasn't having a go, just expressing my own annoyance at having a dissertation which is taking up my time atm. Just heard about Mosca and Julio Bashmore signing up for Radio 1's 'In New DJs We Trust'...hope it doesn't change their output.

Both those djs are playing couple of days before my birthday end of next month in a nice small intimate venue. Should be sick. But yeh you don't want any of those producers changed commercially. They're great now, we don't want crappy releases!
Mosca seems to get in a massive ball ache about commercial styles. He recently called future garage "All Burial rip-off emo garage ****". Doubt he's changing much haha.

Don't think it's up on youtube yet. Didn't actually realise how many pies he's had his fingers in til I looked at his back catalog. Black Dog and Radiohead remixes, and a collab with Pariah. Cool ****.

Yeh i saw he said that. What a load of crap. What makes him so much better? Never really got into Mosca myself. He's got a few ok tunes and i hear he's a good dj but he isn't good enough to start saying stuff like that!

He was a dick for being so general, but in a way I agree with him. There are so many (shameless) Burial imitations out there now. I have no problem with an artist inspiring a new style, but there's a lot that really don't even attempt to make their own mark. Obviously future garage is pretty badly defined though, so there's no way that it can be said for ALL of them. As an example:

And then someone like Pariah, who is very similar to Burial, but who actually has his own signature on his tracks:

They must be friendly with each other, seen them having the odd convo on twitter. And it seems like bristol always has something going on, may have to look for a job there.

If I don't get an offer this year, I'll see you there haha.

Offer for what? From a label?

I was hoping you could give me some advice on something, you might not be able to help but it is worth a shot. How do you organise/play your music? Mine is turning into a bit of a mess. I had an itunes on my old laptop but it was cluttered with crappy limewire downloads of rap/hip hop from when I was 13 so abandoned it. Also it really annoyed me how itunes would sometimes change the order of tracks. Have just been listening to stuff through windows media player but want to start listening to music on the go again with my ipod. Started importing my albums/EPs by folder into a new itunes and it still messes up. For example, it has Maya's Focus Now EP in completely the wrong order and with maceo plex's album it seems to decide tracks 9-12 are part of a different album. I have attached a screen shot to show you what I mean. It's so frustrating!

Maybe it is just me but I don't really get why people like listening to sets/essential mixes so much for personal listening. I always get part way through and then really want to find out what a track is in the mix. And more often than not it is really difficult to find out. Not so bad on soundcloud because sometimes people give you track IDs but i found the julio bashmore essential mix quite frustrating. Really enjoyed it but itwas a nightmare trying to find out which tracks were the ones I was liking the most. Even though you have a tracklisting, because it doesn't give timings you end up guessing at a section of the tracklisting where you think the track might be. Then you have to listen to all the songs round there individually to find what you are looking for! Is this really just me who has this problem?!

But yes, liking the look of zabiela! Missed him at parklife festival last year, will not make the same mistake again.

Nah, uni offer for music courses. Actual production is on the sidelines, just doing it for fun and not really going through any effort to 'make it big'. Not counting on that at all.

For itunes...I don't really do much organization. Most of my downloads are already ID3 tagged nicely, it's part of the rules. I have used a plugin called Tune Up in the past though, and it was great. Basically scans the waveform of songs, compares it to their (vast) database, and tags appropriate artist, title, album, year, track number, etc. It worked through a 10,000 file library with only a couple of songs being tagged wrongly. I think there's a free version which will clean up a limited number of songs. After that, I think it's £20/year or something.

Wish they made one for FLACs...mine are a complete mess there.

You might want to check out mixcloud, quite a lot of mixes on there are timestamped.

About Julio Bashmore's mix, does anyone know why it is only 70 minutes long? Is there a full version out there?

I'm the same with regards to mixes. I don't have the patience to listen to full sets. Like i really enjoyed from about 12 mins to 25 mins of Mays's essential mix, but due to time constraints i never generally had much longer than half an hour sessions much. I too often as you say look for the track in the mix too. It's what i find off putting about mixes, as there's generally going to be songs there which i'm not fussed on.

Though i've been to see enough sets live to be comfortably in 3 digits, yet i enjoy it then. Guess it's just what i'm used to? Plus i always find i enjoy general listening of music, especially this sort of sound, better when pissed, or even after a few drinks.

Ditto. Unless it's someone remarkable, I get bored pretty quick. There isn't the atmosphere at home to make a mix interesting. Even in a club, with a sick DJ, I can't be there for more than 30 minutes before I want a break for a smoke/drink.

Liking this:

Finally got a soundcloud, quick clip of my own work:

About 10 hours work on it so far, still very much in arrangement, and only really happy with the first 90s at the moment.

Sounds like a good start! Has a sense of foreboding and dark atmosphere to it.

I'm surprised you haven't heard of him. Thought he was quite big. RA rated him as number 2 dj of last year. Can't wait for tonight, gonna be big

I stumbled across this list of every essential mix a couple of months ago, just went back and listened to the Seth Troxler mix after the recent Maceo Plex mix.

Also been digging Bondax recently, nice future garage vibes.
