Magdalene is most definitely the best college at Cambridge. Just sayin'

Well now I know for sure  What are you studying, if you don't mind me asking?

Course: Medicine
AS Levels: Maths, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Geography, Critical Thinking
A'Levels: Maths, Chemistry, Biology, Physics
GCSEs: 6A*s 6As
Extras: EPQ

Added. Just out of curiosity, why are the grades you've told me above (6A*s, 6As) different to the ones in your sig?
(If anyone wants to know stuff about applying for English then I guess I might be a helpful person to talk to, by the way)

I'm not actually a Cambridge student at the moment :colondollar: I have an offer to study PPS this year though. My offer's from Magdalene, hence my comment saying it was the best. When I went for my interview, I fell in love with the college - it's not the biggest, but it's so lovely! You've definitely made the right decision
Course: Natural Sciences (probably physical)

Standard Grades: nine 1's in Chemistry, Music, Biology, Physics, Geography, Drama, Art and Design, English, Maths
Scottish Highers: Chemistry, Biology, English, Maths, Physics, Geography, six which is more than normal so I am starting to panic.. :cry2: MUST.GET.6A'S.FOR.CAMBRIDGE... :nutcase:

Scottish Advanced Highers: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Maths

Colleges being considered: really not sure yet considering the amount I need to muddle through, I love them all

Being a Scottish student I am part of a minority  and since I only want to do this course out of every other course out there, if I don't get in.. I am pretty much stuffed and will have to take a gap year, but I REALLY REALLY want this more than anything right now :afraid:

I'm doing 5/6 of your subjects for AS, snap! :P I'm also Natural Sciences  Nice standard grades, I'm sure you can do well on your highers

I'm Welsh... which makes me worried that they may be laughing too much at my accent to hear what I have to say in the interview :frown: I'm actually considering taking a language course before the interview O_o

It's (sort of) comforting to see someone else who sees the despondency created by the lack of similar courses. Cambridge are really the only University which offer such a diverse, yet specialised (if that makes sense) course, which is a shame because I really like the look of the course. I think Durham and UCL are the closest equivalents, but in all probability I'll have to end up putting a specific subject (like Chemistry or Physics) (which I don't really want to do) for my other 4 choices, meaning I may be digging my own grave for a potential forced gap year

No one is going to laugh a welsh accent.

Yeah, I think everything at Cam will be!

I applied for Sociology and Social Anthropology (22-26th of July).

What subjects are you doing atm? (out of curiosity)

I found out after I'd applied that results day is at the same time as the maths course - I was sinical enough to hope that it'd discouraged some people from applying :frown:

It has happened before :colonhash: Besides, I would prefer my overzealous paranoia to fixate on something trivial (never stop a madman from rambling )

Aren't you from Manchester? I don't think that would be a problem for you. Of course, if I could choose my accent it would definitely be Irish

Haha I have that 'overzealous paranoia' thing going on too! I have a Northern Ireland accent (not half as nice as down south) and I didn't realise how strong it was till I was over at a cambridge open day..don't eorry uou won't be the onlylone with a strong accent at interview!!(cross fingers that we get one!)

No, you are exactly right about it being so diverse and specialised! :L that is why I love it. The thing is though, every other fellow Scot is looking at me as if I am crazy because we don't have to pay a thing when we go to uni here in Scotland, no tuition fees or anything

Haha, I think they like to have a diverse bunch of people, so we can provide that for them. I don't think you should change yourself in anyway by doing a languages course, know your stuff and that is what will get you in I am guessing

But this course is definately for me and is what I want to do  that is why I am going to refuse to apply anywhere else when my careers advisers look at me in shock and horror :L They only as for 3 advanced highers, or even two with a higher, but for sakes of competition kind of needed the four, and they are all relevant. Teaching myself the sixth higher, geography, is also to help get in, and I did an extra standard grade too. Tonnes of extra-cirricular stuff is backing me up too which should also help

Whittled the colleges down and I am looking at Homerton at the moment :colone:

Careful not to overdo it, they don't care unless it's relevant. Good luck, I too have shortlisted Homerton.

You.... you made me look silly  I'm kidding, congratulations on your offer! I think it was very pretty, and I like the street outside, too  The master was very friendly too (although he obviously won't be there by my time anyways!)
:ninja:

I thought I might as well say hello... for motivation and everything :colonhash:

Thanks - now I've just got to meet it! Procrastinating on TSR isn't really the best way to do that. :colondollar: Good luck with your application

Be careful, and just make sure you really work as hard as you can towards your final AS exams. Here to offer my advice, don't go into these exams without revising, thinking you can just breeze through without much effort. Obviously you'll know this, but I'm just reiterating it, as looking back, I could kick myself. But, for me, a gap year could be quite good. What exams have you got summer? You're looking at CompSci right?

Yup CompSci and I have...

Maths: C3 S1 and M1
Physics: Unit 1 and 2
Electronics: Unit 1 and 2
Computing: unit 1 and 2
General Studies: 1 and 2 (Compulsory at my school for some reason -_-)

All of A-level maths in first year, then FMaths second? Ah, nice, my college does not offer Electronics or Computing, the latter looks so interesting. I would take the CompSci first year module should I get an offer for Natural Sciences. Do you learn a language for it?
