Choosing Subjects in Uni

Im year 12 now. I have been wanting to study mathematics in University since the beginning of the year, and I believe I am capable as well. However, after the exams in June and certain Physics and Chemistry trips, I realize I am also interested in physics and chemistry, and eager to learn more. Also I find out Im not as good as I thought in maths, but I dont want to give up. Im frustrated. What should I do? Is there any subject in University can satisfy my will, eg Physical chemistry, or anything like that?

Some universities also offer Combined Honours/Studies programmes where you're able to combine two or three subjects during your entire degree (or drop subjects after first year and specialise). Newcastle, Liverpool, Exeter and Durham for example (although Durham only offer Combined Honours in the Arts and Social Sciences). Any student wanting to do the same at Durham will need to apply for Natural Sciences (which is similar).

i have considered natural sciences, but would it be really hard to get in? As my most of my friends in my school are choosing natural sciences, so there should be a lot of people choosing it around UK.
Whats Joint Honours maths and chemistry? can you give me any source to access this info plz? :colondollar:

The Combined Honours/Studies courses I've mentioned often exclude the Sciences, usually because the university offers Natural Sciences and this fufills the similar purpose. I'm sure sciences were able to be studied as part of Newcastle's Combined programme but this doesn't seem to be the case.

However, there's still Natural Sciences and Joint Honours programmes.

Joint Honours programmes are offered at various universities including Glasgow, Aberdeen, Keele, Leeds, Southampton, St Andrews and UCL. I can't link to these programmes myself as my laptop is semi-broken but you can visit the websites if you wish, or conduct a course search on the UCAS website.

You might also consider studying Chemistry as a Single Honours degree but taking electives in mathematics. Some universities offer this. The bulk of the course is Chemistry but you may also be able to offer one or two modules from another department (e.g. mathematics). Scottish universities, particularly the Ancients, offer a flexible programme where you are not restricted to one subject during your initial years. You can study modules from other departments before specialising in your chosen subject (the subject you applied for) after the second year. Certain English universities allow something similar, Durham for example.

As for Natural Sciences, I can't say I'm an expert, but they are quite flexible and reasonably popular programmes, yes. Durham ask for A*AA (might be A*A*A now) as do Cambridge, I think, and at other Russell/1994 Group universities typical offers are still high, usually AAA-AAB. However, I wouldn't say they are exceptionally popular, no more so that popular humanities degrees (history and english for example).

How strong an application do you think you'll be able to make? Do you mind if I ask your predicted grades?

I am doing Physics, Chemistry, Maths, and Further Maths. My predicted grades are AAA*. But I am really not confident in meeting these predicted grades after the exams

Are there any other subjects you are good at besides physics and chemistry? If you're not good at maths, I would avoid any maths/engineering degree.
