Physical properties of petrol

I do BTEC science and I'm currently doing the merit things for my Easter holidays. One of the things I need to find out is: Describe why the physical properties of petrol make it better than wood or coal for powering cars

Another is Explain why plant food is best served liquid instead of being the easily made and spread soil

Readily combustible so needs less energy to set it alight.

Liquid, so can be moved easily, and can be vaporised for injecting into the cylinders.

(also partly due to being a liquid) its cheaper to mine than coal or wood, and can be refined more easily by fractional distillation.

Gives of a lot of energy when it burns.

Burns relatively cleanly because (due to being a liquid) it can be purified more easily, thus removing impurities.



(and btw, putting thanks at the end doesn't make it a question... :wink: )
