Well done to the EDL for highlighting this problem and putting pressure on the police and government to finally do something about it. How is it Islamic? We don't have enough information in the article to come to the conclusion that they're practising Muslims.

Because that's what the OP wants to see it as. There's really no other way to put it. In the eyes of the EDL and anybody who sympathises with them, Islam is first in line for blame for any misdemeanour that may be caused by a Muslim.
