The Big print giveth, the small print taketh away.
I'm pleasantly surprised. 50% is too high for any income tax in my opinion so I'm pleased that's gone. Plus the tax free allowance is impressive too. Hopefully Britain will be a lot more competitive now.

Good. It doesn't make sense to tax people below that amount (and probably much higher). You are essentially paying someone to take money off of them and give it back. Of course, no one will give the Conservatives credit for it. They are evil meanies.

Well it is when you're at the levels where you're getting taxed that much...

does barely anything to alleviate the pressures and expenses on people on low incomes (those vast majority of whom don't have the luxury of worrying about 40p or 50p tax changes)

instead gives cuts to business and the rich whilst cuts are still going ahead on services and stuff the rest of society relies on, ****ing piss take and a joke.

Doesnt mean you can rape the poor more than the rich, when the rich benefited more from the boom

Despite the fact that the rich pay a far greater amount of tax than the poor?

Would you not be more annoyed if they announced lots of plans to cut tax across the board with no plan for paying for it other than increasing structural deficit? I know I would go mental.

Please do explain exactly how the "rich" are solely to blame for this debt.

Don't you know already, where have you been for the last 4 years, Basingstoke?

The level of ignorant cynicism here is incredibly depressing. Saying "they give a bit, and take it away" doesn't make you clever.

Also, the idea that high earners don't pay more tax than low earners - on which planet? On which planet do high earners not already pay at least double what low earners do - £ for £????

And before you start your idiot whinges about "loopholes" and "tax avoidance" check that they actually make any sense, and are based on reality - not what someother idiot told you.
Meanwhile, the 40p tax threshold is reduced from £42,475 to £41,450.

Funny how Osborne left that to the fine print....

The TSR socialists will make it clear that nobody should aspire to earn £40,000; ergo it's irrelevant except to fat cats.
