Looks like STEP I, II and III are on different dates again...
Found the examiner report quite interesting to read especially for STEP II.

Arghhh STEP I clashes with physics unit 5. Of all subjects it had to clash with, it had to be the one which most math people take.
So basically. Have my camb offer 1,1 step 2,3. Now I can do step 1 and step 2 would reasonably doable by that logic. Problem is ive only learnt 3/4 FP2 and no FP3 yet so when do you reckon I should start self teaching? I mean we learn it in school in time for the summer exams :frown:

I think for STEP, I self taught the rest of the syllabus so that I had the right knowledge for STEP III

I am going to be sitting a few STEP papers covering the content for STEP 1 and 2 only, I have the FM books, and need a book that will teach me the core maths.
I am aware that STEP is not a book based exam but still, I think I need to know the maths behind it before I can start with practice papers.
Could someone tell me which of the following three they prefer and why:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Introducing-...6128848&sr=8-8

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Understandin...ref=pd_sim_b_2

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Core-Maths-A...ref=pd_sim_b_1

I am inclining towards the second link because it has a contents that I can see from Amazon and I can't do that for the third one. If anyone who has the two books or just the 3rd one can compare the contents I would highly appreciate it.

I think they are all great books but I would just like to know the best one that will give me a good understanding before I go onto STEP.
Is this the main STEP thread? Or should I be using the one Xero Xenith made? Confusion,
hi,
I am currently doing a levels in maths, further maths, physics, chemistry, biology. I am hoping on applying to Cambridge next year for engineering. I am currently in round 2 of the mathematical Olympiad and also doing my maths a level in one year. I was wondering if doing step 1 and step 2 would increase my chance of getting in to Cambridge.

Will I be able to do STEP 1 2 and 3 with c1-c4 , m1-m2, fp1-fp2, d1-d2, s1-s2 ??? And also would i be able to do any STEP questions having only done C1 and D1 and half of M1 FP1 S1. If i can't then would I have enough knowledge to be able to do STEP after completing my AS units. c1 c2 d1 s1 m1 fp1 ??? Even a vague idea as to when i may be able to do a STEP question will be extremely helpful. thank youu
