What is up with all these strikes in London

What is up with all these strikes, its so annoying. All the time there's strikes in London. I just want to be able to travel in London, without all this commotion. TFL just seem to be striking left, right and centre while we're in recession and nearing the Olympics. So annoying, just stop striking! We're all poor now, how much more money do you want out of our pockets?

Instead of blaming the workers, blame the government who will never dream of taking pay cuts themselves, but are more than happy to cut jobs left, right and centre, meaning that these strikes are inevitable. I feel sorry for the members of the public who will be affected by these strikes, but the government has spent so much taxpayer money on the Olympics, whilst at the same time cutting funding and jobs to more important things, I think it's quite apt that the unions have chosen the Olympics as their time to strike.

Despite the fact that a lot of these Unions are striking on behalf of workers who work for private companies? That's just greed, plain and simple. "Everyone else is making a quick buck out of the Olympics, me too".

And yet they're still on ridiculous salaries.

Ah, I thought they were mainly public companies. Sorry, in that case I agree with you.

I think everyone who goes on strike should get the sack!
Specially since Olympics are so close

Opportunism, the unions know the government would prefer there to be no problems or hitches during the Olympics, its basically holding a gun to the Governments head, though i sympathize with the workers, this sort of thing is distasteful in my opinion and I find myself a little less sympathetic to their plight.

The PM is, essentially, a CEO of an enormous company with a huge number of affiliate groups, massive influence across the globe and has 60million+ 'employees'. In any other comparable job he'd be earning 10s of millions a year. In comparison, £142k is a pittance.

Because they have important jobs you socialist degenerate ****.

You call me "degenerate" and yet you're the one who has to resort to insults?

I just think it's ridiculous when they are cutting money from the really important professions, and yet they still earn more money in a year than some can ever hope to earn, and they tell us all that we have to tighten our belts but they can still afford to take foreign holidays whilst the UK crumbles in their absence.

What are these "Really important professions" you're talking about ?

The government could do with a national temping agency for youngsters where if anyone goes on strike you get a bunch of work-hungry energetic people in to have a go. Let's face it, driving a bus isn't difficult, there's an actual lane you have dedicated to you. Trains are even easier, just don't go too fast and you'll always be on the rails. If they do a really really good job you can kick out the 'professionals' and reduce fares by 90%.

Nursing is the first one that comes to mind.

Which is why the NHS budget was ringfenced. No money was taken from the NHS.
They're just taking advantage of the Olympics and using it as a platform to strike.

£65,738 is the annual salary for an MP and its frozen for at least the next year (and decreased by 5% recently as mentioned above). This really isn't much for a high end job based in London. An experienced tube driver would earn a similar amount.

If you want to hear something ridiculous then consider that Bob Crow's reward for causing millions of people misery via strikes and costing the economy millions of pounds is a salary of over £145,000 with it going up by 26% since the start of the recession.
**** the unions n **** Bob Crowe. Dirty ****.
