It's happened quite a few times and it always hurts me a little. I am not adding complete randoms, I don't go around adding everyone I know, but for some reason I have been rejected quite a few times now. Also I am a popular person at uni, I am friendly and sociable. I have noticed it has happened with some old school friends, I just don't get why people would be so mean.
Re: Hate being rejected as a friend on Facebook....
Ive done a few times to people I dont like and who've only added me too be nosey and never plan on talking to me, ever. Maybe you fit into that category.
Re: Hate being rejected as a friend on Facebook....
Firstly--it's just Facebook. Should it really hurt that much?
Secondly--oh well. Forget about them. Unless you're the kind who wants hundreds of friends just to prove your ~cyber popularity~ it shouldn't really matter.
Thirdly--you're better off without any "friendship" from these people, anyway. They're old school friends, you drift apart. Life goes on.

So are you saying you talk to every single person on your facebook?
I just see it as a bit of fun and when people reject me it just makes me think they must take Facebook way too seriously. I mean I always reject randoms or people who I am very distant from but some of these people used to be quite nice in school.
Re: Hate being rejected as a friend on Facebook....
I don't accept everyone who tries to be my friend on facebook, like people who went to my school but never spoke to me just make me think why are you adding me now? you didn't want to talk me then! And people who are just adding me because they know my friends, I don't accept them either. Ooh and complete random people from different countries and people who I've never met who look like seedy old men and all their friends are teenage girls.
It's only facebook pet, if you have lots of friends in the real world then that's much better don't let facebook get you down!

I'm not trying to add people to be popular. I have 300 friends who are all from uni or school or travelling. I just add people because I don't see it as a big deal and to be rejected/removed as a friend I find quite childish basically.
Re: Hate being rejected as a friend on Facebook....
Maybe it makes them feel cool...
I added someone who was a bit of a loser, he looks a bit like Mr Bean... But I thought we were in the friend zone.. but he rejected me!! I thought it was hilarious

It doesn't say you've been rejected.. it's just funny when you notice that he/she didn't add you back.. and when you look back on their page it comes up with the 'add as a friend' button!

I think its childish you would bitch and moan that someone doesn't think you are worth being a friend on facebook. Grow the hell up and get a life. The internet made you stupid.

Yes but if I'm being honest I wasn't the cool kid at school who ignored everyone, the people I added were supposedly popular and cool in school and I was in between you know, not ultra cool or anywhere near geeky. It just hurts how years on they still think they are better than some people in school esp since we have all been to uni and met new people.
Anyway don't you think it would make it awkward if you ever saw some of the people in real life? Like this girl removed me as a friend the other day and when I saw her she looked really sheepish and awkward.
Ah I guess I'll try and forget about it but it makes me feel indequate sometimes.

Not at all. Im saying, I accept people who I dont mind and dont talk to, but I reject the ones I dont like and never talk to.

You're right, it is pretty pathetic. But would you not be slightly gutted if someone rejected you? I am not being petty but it does feel hurtful.

I don't know if your school is the same as mine but the majority of the people at my school who wre 'cool and popular' are now mostly pregnant/generally failing in life so maybe rejecting people who they were once supposedly better than gives them their jollies back.
And no I don't feel awkward when I see them but then I usually don't recognise them because my eyesight is terrible but that's a different story. Anyway, it is only facebook just be glad you're at uni and you're happy.

Ok fair enough. I don't actually take Facebook as seriously as you might think i.e. I barely upload any photos on there, I don't change my status. It's just when people reject me I feel that it is rude and unnecessary. But there we go, life goes on.
