when applying for university and the entry requirements for a course says for example BBC, does this just mean 280 ucas points in total and it doesnt matter how you get them? as i obtained some ucas points doing a national certificate for two years and have just completed my a/s. I wondered if i could use the ucas points from the national certificate with the ucas points from my a-levels together?? please help

No, normally if they say BBC, they want BBC and not the points equivalent.

They may consider it, but usually when a university asks for grades as part of their offer, they want the actual grades. For example if a university asks for ABB and you get AAB AAC, they probably won't accept you automatically even though the points are equivalent.

You've picked a poor example there, haven't your? AAB certainly matches an ABB offer

If it says AAA (ill use this as the example as it saves me doing a little bit of maths ) it means AAA and you must get AAA however if it says 360 points you can make up those 360 points with whatever you can make it up with

surely ABB would be seen as the minimum requirement and anything that exceeds it e.g. AAB, would be even better.
