Who Would you Vote For?

This is an unofficial Mid-Term Poll for the TSR HOC.

The position in the poll has been done in a random order using a random number generator.

Provisional policies (subject to people who aren't me reading them)

- We will aim to pass a bill making it illegal for females to start Fitness Blogs without posting pics.
- Under a WtF government no gym shall be without a monolift. We will achieve this by reducing spending on gay-sounding things like "healthcare" and "education".
- We will push for a complete overhaul in the voting system. Specifically, people will get the same number of votes as their total for the squat, bench press and deadlift in kilograms. Non-lifting women will get a number of votes determined by their cup size divided by their fatty rating out of 10. Non-lifting men will not be entitled to vote at all.
- School boys will not be entitled to a free school meal. They will be entitled to six, and if they don't eat them all there will be Hell to pay.
- Vegetarianism will become a capital offence.

TSR Conservative

TSR

The TSR Conservatives, at our core, support individual rights, liberty and freedom to choose. We believe that a person ought to live their lives free from constant state intervention; the state should not be master but a servant of the individual. We believe that the government should simply act as a safety net rather than interfering in every aspect of life, from CCTV cameras to spiralling taxation. That does not however mean we condone irresponsibility or letting people free-fall. Our Licensing Bill reflects such an attitude in that we encouraged greater freedoms to young adults by letting them drink earlier but emphasising that responsibilities accompany rights.

In an economic recession we cannot afford to spend on free school dinners (Socialist), nationalising the rail network (Lib Dem) or the water network (Labour). These are policies more suited to better times; Britain has 2.1 million people unemployed and to tell ordinary Britons that their NI or income tax is going to rise to pay for those schemes, despite Britain being in the worst economic crisis since the early 1930s, is insulting and heartless.

We will continue to offer viable solutions to the current economic crisis, and alongside this we will introduce initiatives to protect the individual against the worst excesses of state intervention. We will make merit the driving force in our society; anyone with determination and talent should be able to achieve anything. We represent a wide range of conservative, libertarian, centrist and liberal values and beliefs, all with the common.

VOTE CONSERVATIVE

TSR Socialist Party

The TSR Socialists are the only party with a real vision and determination to change the world. As the financial crisis ruins the lives of the people in this country, and others, it is time for that vision to be realised, through the determination of a united people.

In the last parliament we fought to bring vital public services, corrupted by capitalist mismanagement, back into public ownership. We proposed to abolish tuition fees, providing hope to thousands of young people who cannot afford them. We proposed to crack downs on tax-dodgers, who should pay their fair share in society.

At every turn, we have been opposed by the other parties. The Tories have been against all our measures; what did you expect? Labour are more worried about hospital parking fees than actually fixing any real problems, having voted against the nationalisation of the railways and water utilites. They may claim to be “Old Labour”, but their actions speak louder than words. The Lib Dems have sided with the Tories on numerous issues, and even worked with the Tories to create an education bill which would have abolished Child Trust Funds and cut the National Curriculum to virtually nothing. The Monster Raving Loony Party contribute little value to democracy, although it is difficult to know who to take seriously, with the Libertarians are proposing to abolish the minimum wage!

Its time for a party who can see problems in the economy before its too late.
It's time for something new.
Vote Lib Dem

TSR Labour

TSR

In an economy shattered by corporate greed and poor governance, the TSR Labour Party will act to create jobs, fully regulate our banks and restore public confidence in government. Unlike the real life Labour Party, we take pride in our socialist roots and will work for the people, not corporations.

A TSR Labour government understands the hardships facing families up and down the country, which is why we have acted to increase unemployment benefits for the 2 million people now relying on it. We have opposed £22 billion worth of spending cuts from the Tories and opposed plans from the TSR Socialists to give rich kids free meals.

We also:
Drew up plans to eliminate costly car parking charges for hospital patients.
Introduced a bill allowing vital drugs and flu vaccines to be manufactured cheaply for people who need them desperately.
Passed a bill finally allowing gay people to marry, despite Socialist opposition.

TSR Labour believes in a society where every person has fair and equal access to high standards of healthcare, education and local government services. Regardless of background, everyone in a TSR Labour society is valuable and will be supported by the government.

If elected, we will:
Introduce an economic recovery package to create jobs and increase consumer spending.
Create a new badge parking scheme to allow those who are temporarily disabled to receive parking concessions.
Re-asses the EMA system to ensure it is getting to everyone who needs it.

What we believe in:

An 'adapted' market economy: the most efficient way to provide most goods is a market-based economy. However there is no such thing as a perfect market. Markets need to be adapted for externalities (eg. by taxing tobacco or fossil fuels), and some goods may be better provided by government (eg. defence and healthcare). This means we'd support privatisation where it can bring about the benefits of competition, but believe that natural monopolies, such as water companies and railtrack, should be publicly owned.

Taxes and public services are a balancing act...: public services aren't free, so we need taxes, however most taxes stifle the economy. This means we need to use taxpayer money as efficiently as possible and look to more efficient taxes to play a bigger role taxing externalities like pollution more and income less.

...As are benefits and the incentive to work: the welfare system should be set up to promote the highest minimum standard of living possible without harming the incentive to work.

Investing in Britain's future: we need to invest taxpayer money as wisely as possible to help develop Britain's economy. This means ensuring we have a world class education system for all; that the government supports scientific and technological research, especially into green technologies; and that we create the infrastructure to support innovation and social entrepreneurs. We believe this is the best way to spend the stimulus needed to smooth the trough of this recession.

As this hints at, we agree with the Keynesian idea that the economy can be deficient or exaggerated in demand. When people are borrowing and spending, the government should run a surplus to reduce bubbles forming, and when people stop spending and we crash into a recession, the government should run a deficit to try and stabilise demand.

A more socially liberal society (at least to some extent): we believe, broadly, that Mill's harm principle (something is find so long as it doesn't harm others) is a sensible idea, but that "harm" doesn't purely mean direct physical harm (as some Libertarians would have it). While we would seek to debate individual social proposals, like the legalisation of drugs, and decide based on the effects it will have on people, we would tend to err on the side of liberty.

If you're mature enough to make your own decisions - Vote Libertarian.

Give Nanny Government the finger - Vote Libertarian.

When we're children our parents make decisions for us because we're not able to make them ourselves. When we grow older we learn to make our own choices and take responsibility for our own mistakes - and get the credit for our own hard work.

So why should Government still boss us around?

A Libertarian vote says "I can make my own decisions, thank you very much."

Ask the Left (Socialists, Labour and Lib Dems) and they'll say they support "freedom". But they don't mean it. Freedom doesn't mean stealing from the "rich". Freedom doesn't mean telling people what they need to do. It doesn't mean enforcing your opinion on everyone else. Freedom means letting people be free to make their own decisions.

Freedom means Libertarianism.

The Libertarians promise to work towards increased freedom for everyone, rich and poor.

The Libertarians promise to oppose nannying and Government meddling in your lives.

The Libertarians promise to fight for your rights to do what you want to do.

The Libertarians promise to treat you like people, not like children.

The Libertarians promise to strive for equality before the law.

Libertarianism

"If you are not free to choose wrongly and irresponsibly, you are not free at all."

please don't spam the thread with updates every couple of minutes. it will be acceptable once a day maybe, but every 2 or 3 posts will be considered spam.

as for the editing of the poll there is a way of doing it but its a lot of hassle and it means removing the poll then editing in results so I'd rather not have to do that.

Also what happened to the one we had like only 2 weeks ago???
