Re: Whitworth Park 2012Just got my accomodation offer, woot!(Original post by Origami Bullets)
When they send you your accommodation offer, they'll give you a string of letters and numbers. The first two letters refer to block, the next number refers to floor, the next two numbers refer to flat, and the last three numbers refer to room.
e.g. BE.2.36.401
Beech Court
2nd Floor
Flat 36
Room 401
AB.G.13.102
Does that mean I'll be on floor G (I'm assuming 7)? If so, please please say there's a lift, otherwise it's gonna take me a loooong time to get to and from my room. -
Re: Whitworth Park 2012Whitworth Park is only about four storeys high! Floor G = Ground, so there won't be any external stairs (although Whitworth Park flats are split over two floors IIRC, so you may find that you need to go upstairs to a flatmates room).(Original post by Mr Ben)

Did you tell the university about your mobility problems when you applied for accommodation? -

Is there anything I should know about my block/floor? I think I read somewhere that ground floor flats are single sex only (Not that I have anything wrong with that, just curious) and that room sizes can vary between blocks/floors
I didn't tell them about my problems in the application, the website made it seem as though the problem needed to be very serious for it to make a difference. With my walking stick and a few painkillers I can walk as far as your average person and I can climb stairs without too much difficulty (Just takes me a little while longer).
If you've an unconditional offer you should find out some time this month, if it's conditional I'm not sure, sorry.(Original post by MissMeganJayne)
Ahhhh when do you think I'll get mine?! Jealous! -
Re: Whitworth Park 2012If you have a conditional offer, then it will come through after results day. If you have an unconditional offer, then it will arrive shortly.(Original post by MissMeganJayne)

Tillytots (another member on here) would be the person to ask - she lives in WP, and so she knows about WP in intimate detail, in a way that I don't.(Original post by Mr Ben)

The university is, I understand, quite good about disability related things. It would have guaranteed that you got a ground floor room, for instance. I know that there are some rooms available that are adapted e.g. grab rails in the shower, but it doesn't sound like this is relevant to you. -
Re: Whitworth Park 2012I'll give it a few days, see if Tillytots has a gander at this thread. If not I might drop her a PM, wouldn't mind knowing what the room size will be like so I know what I can bring.(Original post by Origami Bullets)

It's good to hear that the university is good about disability related things. My hip's been behaving pretty well for the past year or so, hopefully it'll stay that way, but it's good to know that if things get bad again there'll be a decent support system in place. -
Re: Whitworth Park 2012Oh i'm so jealous! I wish my exams would finish already, and results day would come, so i can go Manchester already. Wahhhhhhh, i wana go now! Lol :3(Original post by Mr Ben)

Re: Whitworth Park 2012Trust me, before long you'll be wondering where all the time's gone between now and starting at Manchester. Or at least that's what happened to me my first time going to university.(Original post by aprilannep)

Re: Whitworth Park 2012Don't feel too jealous, if we're counting how long it is until we find out where we're living in Manchester from when we finish our A-Level exams, you're still finding about about half a decade sooner than me :P(Original post by aprilannep)

Re: Whitworth Park 2012
Ground floor flats are on a single floor, so don't worry about mobility and stuff, AB.G.13.102 means aberdeen house, ground floor, flat 13, room 102. It's an all male flat as WP has a policy of only putting guys on the ground floor. We're not entirely sure as to why, guessing it's for security reasons? I can't tell you much about room size I'm afraid, as I only have ever been in one bedroom of a downstairs flat. I think like ours which go up over floors they really depend on size as the buildings here are so oddly shaped. In terms of your disability though as you're on the ground floor you have nothing to worry about in terms access, if you take the main entrance out of WP there are a couple of steps to climb, but there's also another exit which you can take slightly further along which has no steps, as you're in aberdeen you will most probably use that exit anyway as it's directly opposite.
Hopefully that was of some help, writing this slightly intoxicated I'm afraid as I have just come back from a rather bad night out and needed some light TSR relief, if you have anymore questions, quoting me is probably the easiest way for me to see.

Re: Whitworth Park 2012All is right minus the floor thing. You are technically on the first floor because WP only has one floor, however 01 refers to the type of flat, 0.1 means your flat goes 'down' over two levels. 02 means it goes 'up' over three. (the layout of WP is very complicated and still remains a mystery to everyone!)(Original post by Lepton1)
Got my offer
AB.01.11.088
Am I right in saying that means Aberdeen House, first floor, flat 11, room 088? -
Re: Whitworth Park 2012Haha, that sounds quite convoluted. I look forward to trying to figure it out in September(Original post by tillytots)
