Default Need advice, private accommodation for postgrad

Hi,
This isn't in postgrad because I would like anyone from Cambridge to input and a search on the forum didn't yeld any great results for me...

As I decided to apply late to Cambridge for an mphil (came from lower ranking uni, didn't expect to get an answer from an email!)
I managed to get a place in musicology with Darwin as college, but they have told me all accommodation was gone and I needed to look for some (I knew my luck would run out at some point!).

So advice please? I have called the accommodation service who put me onto the main accommodation site. However, they are rather busy at the moment, so I am not relying on them solely as they said they could take a while to give me a username and password (which would allow me to look and contact the lets left).

I'm looking on sites for flat shares, with the view that next week as I live fairly close to Cambridge I'm going to go with my mum and look around.

Anyone know any good websites, have used the accommodation service, know any places to avoid or anything?

I'm trying to find a place with females, or a flat, not too far away from west road and the computer labs (though someone has pointed out, no where is too far away with a bike!)

so any suggestions would be appreciated

Rachel

I came across this site about these private halls a while back if you want that sort of thing. No idea whether they have anything available for this year though.

You want the Cambridge Accommodation Notice Board
http://www.brettward.co.uk/canb/

Arbury is the roughest part of Cambridge.

You could also try cambridge gumtree http://cambridge.gumtree.com/ and the Cambridge Uni Accommodation newsgroup http://www.cam.ac.uk/cgi-bin/wwwnews....accommodation

Also try a hunt around Anglia Ruskin stuff, far more of their students live in private accomodation than Cambridge student do.

Have you looked at the facebook groups for graduate freshers? There are a lot of LLM and PGCE students (incl some all female groups) who want housemates. http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=38023464925 http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=105375882871 http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/gr...id=22975970098
