Current Comp Sci and Soft Eng Students!

Hello, I'm starting a degree in Software Engineering at Durham in October.

I was at first planning to bring my desktop PC with me, but I have been thinking about all of the disadvantages of this. Firstly, all of the messing around with bringing the various parts etc with me, as well as the fact that I will have to sit in my room to use my PC. However, if I had a laptop instead, I could work anywhere and would be able to socialise whilst doing work, i.e in the library.

Regarding a laptop though, I was planning on buying a Macbook Pro. Do many computer science / software engineering students currently at Durham use Macbook's and would recommend one?

Any advice is appreciated!

I took my desktop (shuttle) with me and it was fine, but then again I did have a mahoosive room. Not many people end up moving their laptops around much really; hardly anyone takes them to lectures.

I can't see any problem with getting a macbook.

Thanks Jake! Any other Software Engineers or Computer Science students who could give me their opinion on having a Macbook Pro?

I'm seriously considering buying one now

Thanks!
