Living in Essex, Studying in Guildford

Hey guys, next year I'll be off (hopefully) to study at the Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford, Surrey. The only problem is, I currently live in East London, and the ACM doesn't offer student accommodation. My friend is also hopefully studying at the same place with me. So I have two options that I can think of. We could either rent a 2 bed flat in Guildford, which would cost us anything between £800 and £1600 a month, plus money for food and petrol, and anything else. OR we could stay living where we are, and drive the 65 miles there and 65 miles back every morning and night, which saves us around £2000 to £3000 EACH a year. Personally I'd be willing to drive 130 miles a day and save that money, as the family is in pretty bad financial times at the moment. What do you guys think? Any more suggestions?
