Re: Calling ALL IB'ers...Your subject combinations!
Second year IB (avec predos):
Chemistry HL 7
Biology HL 7
French B HL 7
(having a french dad certainly helps lol)
Maths studies 7
(did AS maths on the side last year; basically saved me from any effort for maths studies this year)
History SL 7
(should be ok just lots of revision)
English SL 6
(mixed coursework, but exams not looking too bad)
EE - Chemistry
(was alright, no predos from teachers, but 'B' on UCAS)
ToK (ibid)
so overall 2 core points predicted
looking forward to the MEGA SUMMERRRRR WOOO -
Re: Calling ALL IB'ers...Your subject combinations!Learn your literary terms for English; Read up historian's opinions of your topics; study Biology from the syllabus; don't just doss through maths(Original post by Jonah Joffe)
Doing it next year:
HL:
English
History
Philosophy
SL:
Latin
Biology
Maths studies
Any advice for a new student?
PS. I love your subject combination! I wish I could have taken Latin & Philosophy...
(and maths studies tbh, haha)

I'm really interested in all the subjects i'm doing which i've been told will help in the long run with grades.. I've heard so many horror stories about the IB but there's no other credible qualification that would allow me to take all of those subjects
PS. I do love a bit of latin, havent done philosophy before but it looks brilliant, your missing out.. although by the looks of your predicted grades, your fine with the subjects your taking

(well, it doesn't feel like it atm! exams
)
Your subjects are just so nice and complemental to one another
I would have taken Geography/Philosophy/Economics if it had been offered at our school, but there was only History & Psychology. I didn't like the History teacher and decided to go for Psychology -- I don't like the class, but I'm getting the grades, so that's good
. haha.
& The IB works perfectly if you can pick subjects you highly enjoy. I, for example, my second language choice (due to the classes) and this does anything but motivate me to work. Many people are in the same boat for (i think most commonly) the sciences or second languages.

Yeah.. not a fan of exams, although not too many people are
Fair enough.. I would have done politics instead of philosophy but my school stopped running the IB so I have had to change schools. My new school didnt run politics so I went with philosophy
Sounds good.. the only thing i'm not too sure with is maths, hence maths studies, but apparently maths studies is so easy you dont have to worry about it if your not a maths person
What offer did you get for uni btw? -
Re: Calling ALL IB'ers...Your subject combinations!Mmm, I got conditionals from Imperial (38 total, 665 HL) & UCL (36 total, 665 HL) and I received unconditionals from University of Chicago and Brown University.(Original post by Jonah Joffe)

Annnd I've enrolled in Brown
Maths studies is fine, so long as you actually study consistently (don't leave it till the end)..
