I assume as long as its legal, you can have it in your room. Oh and smoking I also assume is limited to certain places?

Girls in the rooms eh? Well, as Hide said, as long as it's legit ur fine. Just make sure the girls are legal, mate.

They better not go about banning alcohol and things like that... That would just be silly. I plan on keeping several bottles of spirits in my room!

How about snakes or pets? I can't just let trotsky slither off into the forest.

Girls and booze in our rooms? Is that a trick question? We shave our heads and eyebrows off and don the orange robes the minute we start uni. Cold showers, sausage fests and monopoly all the way baby!

sausage fests? is that as in... fudge packing?

Got caught when my flat mate walk in when i was gettin rather friendly with a chipmunk!-does that count?

We had the firebrigade called out about 7 times in one year to our flat-what do they expect when they put stupid heat sensory type things everywhere!

dude, you can do what you want in your room. you're paying for it, for gods sake. the university says you can't have pets there, and the law says you can't have anything illegal, but apart from that, you can do whatever the hell you want. think of it as your own mini house that you're borrowing from the university. they have no right to say what you can and cannot do in that room, so long as it's legal.

bless you, i think you're going to find england a lot more relaxed than what you're used to. nobody really cares what you do in your room with your friends or anyone else.

(I SAY THIS IS A VERY UNOFFICIAL CAPACITY) You'll also probably find people are very relaxed about smoking various not-exactly-legal substances.

Yeah I'd really hold fire on making any assumptions on the smoking of not exactly legal things. I know a guy who was at Reading uni and got busted for drugs. He was thrown out and the po-lice were involved and everything. There's only one place you can truly get away with it, and that's SOAS at UCL, because the police need to give 2 weeks notice before they raid the place.

I'll be bringing Orlando Bloom to live in my wardrobe? (Just need to kidnap him....) Think this is gonna be a no no?!
Reply 17
I reckon you'll get away with it alright! Just make sure he can't get out and phone the po-lice
Reply 18
Yeh i know... put that as a specialist requirement for my room.... (No Phone or internet connection..)

At College of food we're not allowed posters on the walls (because the blue tac marks them!) but nobody really bothers anyway! If we know ppl are going to be goin in our rooms (to fix stuff etc) we just hide them somewhere! we're not allowed heaters either. and we got a letter asking us to get rid of the wet floor cone we "borrowed" from mcdonalds. oh and no pets of any description....my flatmate seriously wanted to bring her rabbit to live in her room!

They're really arsy about visitors at ours (although from speaking to people at other unis I gather this kind of policy isnt common) we have to get our flatmates to all sign a form 2 days in advance to say they dont mind us having guests and they can only stay 2 nights. No more than 1 guest each and no more than 2 per flat. Basically they dont want us going out and getting pissed and bringing back random strangers...although there are ways around this, especially if you go in in a big group or just leg it past when the security guard isnt looking.
