>_< !! how do i write an obituary?

Hi, I have to write an obituary about a scientist//

Do I have to pretend that this person died Today ??
and write like… :
‘____, who had made great contribution to _____ died today at___.’
something like this ?

Or, do i write as if it happened long time ago:
‘In ____, 4th of March (?) ,_____ who had made great contribution to ___ died.’

thanks a lot

Why? That seems a wierd hw piece.
Well the obituaries in the Times are usually along the lines of "The first time I met X..."
Loads of funny, fond anecdoted involving people who knew them.
All their amazing life work obviously
Round of by saying they will be fondly remembered by all and sundry and what a great contribution they made to society.

How are we supposed to know? If your teacher didn't specify then I'd go with whichever you feel is right. Presumably this isn't a work of fiction, so no, don't write as if he/she died recently because he/she DIDN'T die recently.
