hi,
i was just wondering ......
i'm starting my gcse year lol

and I heard that someone in my school was placed in top 10 (? -can't remember exactly ... 10? 100?) for her maths GCSE

how do you know these stuff ???

do you get letter or something if u do really good - nationally?

Yes, you do. But it really doesn't matter. Anyway, as far as I'm aware, only AQA (for top 5) and Edexcel (for top 10) do them.
If you get one of the top 5 marks in the country (not top 5 candidates but top 5 marks) then you get a letter which tells you. For AQA you do anyway. Not sure about other exam boards.

I don't think it really counts for anything though, other than an ego booster :P
